Purpose of the role: Assists the Manager: Client Audit & Corporate Information with reviewing incoming client audits, preparing responses to audit requests and coordinating responses that are required from other Firm departments.

Hours: Standard hours are 9:30am to 5:30pm with flexibility in accordance with the needs of the business. Our current working from home policy allows for two days working from home, subject to business need.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the coordination and handling of Client Audits for risk management purposes.
  • Obtains and analyses appropriate financial information for client audits by running SQL scripts or coordinating with Accounting staff.
  • Prepares draft audit profile packages for review and creating regular reports on audit activity when requested.
  • Updates documentation regarding completed audits as reference for follow up questions and assist with coordinating those responses.
  • Tracks common audit findings and resolutions for quick ad hoc reports.
  • Works closely with the Corporate Information Analyst and assists with collecting corporate family information and respond to research requests as necessary.
  • Creates reports and responds to ad hoc requests from the Firm Risk Management attorneys, and handles routine scheduled reports that are sent to the Firm's Risk Management Partner for review.
  • Researches client financials and matter history information according to an agreed-upon schedule.
  • Reviews D&B Audit alerts and create regular risk reports on any findings.
  • Tracks and reports monthly usage of online databases, identify issues for management attention.
  • Handles special requests for research on companies or individuals as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives.

Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree required. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of the job.
  • Three to five years of applicable experience preferred; experience conducting in-depth company research preferred, especially analysing company financials.
  • Functional knowledge of internal audit or client audit process in professional services firms, especially law firms would be desirable.
  • General knowledge of legal ethical rules, business intake process and conflict of interest checking process is helpful.
  • Law firm experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Aderant Accounting System data would be an advantage.
  • Ability to create reports by writing SQL scripts or interest in learning this skill is preferred.
  • Experience using automated workflow software would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of conflicts clearance and new client/matter opening process would be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and proficiency with Excel (especially creating charts/graphs) especially useful.
