Shape the future of streets, places and movement. We are looking for an Associate Transport Planner or Engineer to join our growing London team at Mayer Brown. This is a key role in helping grow our public sector offer, with a strong focus on active travel, sustainable mobility, and high-quality placemaking. This role is ideal for someone currently working in a consultancy or design-led practice who is looking for greater influence over projects, closer client relationships, and a genuine opportunity to shape a growing team and portfolio.
Your New Role – What’s Involved?
- Lead the delivery of active travel, public realm and movement strategy projects, from early concept through to implementation.
- Take ownership of client relationships, particularly with local authorities and public sector bodies, acting as a trusted advisor.
- Contribute to the development of design-led, people-focused solutions that balance movement and place.
- Lead and contribute to bids, frameworks and work-winning, helping to grow our presence in the public sector.
- Provide technical leadership and direction, drawing on your experience in transport planning, street design, or urban mobility.
- Support and mentor team members, helping to build capability and confidence across the team.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the team, including how we position, deliver and grow our offer.
Your Team
Our London team works at the intersection of transport planning, street design and placemaking, delivering projects that prioritise walking, cycling and better streets. We work closely with local authorities and public sector clients on liveable neighbourhoods, active travel strategies, corridor studies, and public realm improvements.
We’d Love to Hear from You if You:
- Have experience in a consultancy or design-led environment, working on public sector projects.
- Have a strong track record in active travel, urban mobility, or public realm / placemaking projects.
- Are comfortable leading projects and owning client relationships.
- Enjoy working at the interface of strategy, design and delivery.
- Have experience contributing to or leading bids, frameworks, or business development activity.
- Are motivated by creating healthier, more inclusive and sustainable streets and places.
And ideally:
- Have a background in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Design, Geography or a related discipline.
- Bring an understanding of guidance such as LTN 1/20 and Manual for Streets.
- Are working towards or hold professional accreditation (CIHT, TPS, ICE or similar).
