The Department: Devi Shah is co-head of the Restructuring practice of the London office. With 30+ years' experience, she advises on all aspects of restructuring and insolvency and has a particular interest in international and cross-border insolvency and restructuring matters, as well as pensions- and insurance-related restructurings. She has led on matters in this area across all levels of the courts in the UK, including in the Supreme Court.

Michael Fiddy joined Mayer Brown in 2019 as co-head of the Firm's global Restructuring Practice. He is particularly recognized for his market-leading work in portfolio and distressed real estate restructuring. He regularly acts for financial institutions, funds, debtors, creditors and office holders on both domestic and international transactions.

Amy Jacks joined Mayer Brown in 2019 as a partner and co-head of the Restructuring Practice of the London office. She acts for a variety of funds, investment and clearing banks, insolvency practitioners, corporates, management teams and property advisors on complex and often multi-jurisdictional restructurings as well as having undertaken many of the larger portfolio sales in the market recently.

Sheena Frazer is a partner who represents a range of clients, including banks, central banks, funds, insolvency officeholders and directors on a mixture of cross border, contentious and transactional restructuring assignments. In recent mandates, Sheena has advised in the aviation, financial services and construction sectors.

The Role: Our Restructuring practice in London is hiring an Associate at the 2-4 PQE level. The successful candidate will need to have broad non-contentious/transactional experience with a depth of knowledge of insolvency procedures. The candidate will have experience in restructuring plans and cross-border matters across a range of sectors and for a range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Qualified Solicitors (England & Wales) with relevant post qualification experience of 2-4 years.
  • Experience from a highly ranked international practice or team.
  • Excellent people skills and a good, clear communication style.
  • Energetic and dynamic mind-set, with a desire to get involved in building up the business and marketing a leading restructuring practice.
  • Ability to work effectively within an established, close-knit team.
  • A self-starter, willing to be challenged by taking on work outside their comfort zone.
  • Demonstrate ability to confidently interact with clients and develop business pro-actively.
  • A commercial and pragmatic outlook.
  • Experience in advising on cross-border matters.
  • Degree educated achieving a minimum grade of 2:1, or equivalent qualification/experience.
