If you enjoy working with team members whose defining characteristics are exceptional client service, initiative, professionalism, responsiveness, and adaptability, you may be the person we are seeking to join our Information Technology department in our London office as a Messaging Engineer on a 12m fixed term contract.
Hours: 35 hours per week on a shift pattern covering 7:30am – 6:00pm with flexibility in accordance with the needs of the business. Our current working from home policy allows for two days working from home, subject to business need. This policy is subject to change and does not form part of contractual terms.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for evaluating new messaging systems and technologies to save time, increase service levels and reduce costs.
- Responsible for contributing to assigned projects to support delivery of new messaging services to the business.
- Responsible for keeping current on developments in messaging (technologies, products, practices and trends).
- Responsible for maintaining a good working knowledge of the firm’s IT environment.
- Responsible for providing support to users on software platforms supported by the Messaging team.
- Responsible for resolving incidents relating to messaging services in accordance with the Messaging Service Level Agreement and escalating where appropriate.
- Responsible for being a technical escalation contact for enquiries and issues related to messaging services from users, more junior team members and Service Desk and desk-side support teams.
- Responsible for performing preventative maintenance.
- Responsible for timely communication of planned maintenance to other IT teams and users.
- Responsible for complying with approved policies and processes defined by other groups.
- Responsible for maintaining inventory information and complying with software licensing agreements.
- Responsible for accurately recording time spent working on messaging services so that service definitions can be refined.
- Responsible for contributing towards good working relationships between the Messaging team and other teams within the IT Department.
- Responsible for preparing high quality documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems preferred. Relevant industry experience is acceptable.
- In-depth experience of Windows Server and Active Directory.
- In-depth experience of Microsoft Exchange 2019/SE (3+ years).
- In-depth experience of Exchange Online and Intune.
- Knowledge of email archiving products, such as Enterprise Vault, is desirable.
- Exposure to mobility solutions, such as MobileIron.
- Familiarity with cloud-based email filtering services such as Microsoft Exchange Online Protection.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Teams.
- Ability to write PowerShell scripts to automate system administration tasks is desirable.
- Good understanding of the principles of email systems, security processes, best practices, backup procedures, and networks.
- A history of working in a demanding messaging environment is essential.
- A professional services background is desirable.
- Relevant Microsoft software accreditation is preferred but not required.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Able to work under pressure, prioritise tasks and meet strict deadlines.
- Thorough by nature with a keen attention to detail.
- Client focused with the ability to develop good relationships.
- Able to explain complex technical issues to non-technical people.
- Strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
