Data privacy offers an alternative career route to individuals who are not fully-qualified lawyers. This is a great opportunity for someone with a legal background and some IT knowledge to receive on-the-job training in order to pursue this career. Standard hours are 9:30am to 5:30pm with flexibility in accordance with the needs of the business. Our current working from home policy allows for two days working from home, subject to business need. This policy is subject to change and does not form part of contractual terms.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with data-mapping for the record of processing activities (involves interviews with internal application managers to interrogate nature of data and processing);
- General data protection compliance activities;
- Helping with data privacy reviews in routine internal projects/procurement;
- Assisting with vendor management reviews and procedures and associated onboarding issues;
- Preparing data transfer agreements with clients and other parties;
- Involvement in internal training initiatives;
- Assistance with respect to any data subject access requests;
- Supporting incident management processes, including documentation of suspected personal data breaches and assistance with regulatory notification assessments;
- Maintaining data privacy governance records and ensuring audit‑ready documentation;
- Liaising with IT, Risk, Compliance, HR, and Procurement teams to support firm‑wide data protection initiatives;
- Tracking regulatory developments and assisting in updating internal guidance and training materials accordingly;
- Supporting responses to regulatory enquiries and audits under supervision;
- Assisting with records management and data retention / deletion initiatives;
- Providing general administrative and research support to the data privacy and information governance team;

Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes
- A legal education or relevant professional experience, with a demonstrable interest in data protection and privacy law.
- Data privacy certifications or formal GDPR training would be advantageous.
- Previous experience in a paralegal, data protection, compliance, or legal support role (law firm or professional services environment preferred but not essential;
- Strong interest in data protection and privacy law, particularly GDPR and UK GDPR;
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail;
- Confident communicator, able to engage with both legal and non‑legal stakeholders;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
