The Role: Marketing Communications Manager / Internal Communications Manager

Playing a hybrid (internal and external communications role), the Marketing Communications Manager plays a key role in global internal communications strategy, working closely with the Internal Communications Assistant Director, the External Communications Assistant Director, the Director of Marketing Communications, members of firm leadership and colleagues across the firm. This individual oversees internal communications campaigns in collaboration with business services Directors and Managers, plans, researches, and develops messaging and campaigns that serve to deliver firm news, promote engagement and reinforce the Firm's core values and priorities.

The Manager produces content for email, intranet, audio, video and print media, and supports the adoption of new technology platforms, as needed, to expand the reach and effectiveness of internal communications efforts. The Manager also supervises the efforts of the Internal Communications Specialist and the two UK-based CRM Specialists.

Hours: Standard hours are 9:30am to 5:30pm with flexibility in accordance with the needs of the business. Our current working from home policy allows for two days working from home, subject to business need. This policy is subject to change and does not form part of contractual terms.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Firm leadership and other departments to define and articulate the priority messages for internal communications campaigns.
  • Develops internal communications campaigns across all relevant media to communicate the priority messages of the Firm - including written materials, cascading messages through practices groups, videos, podcasts, intranet posts, and other relevant media.
  • Supervises the efforts of the Internal Communications Specialist to support fulfillment of all internal communications projects.
  • Advises business services departments on development of effective communication strategies to increase engagement and understanding of firm-wide initiatives.
  • Manages content on the Firm's intranet home page. Maintains internal messages database.
  • Provides input on work-product of graphic designers and collaborates with the designers' external manager to ensure that designers understand assigned tasks and deliver high-quality graphics and presentations.
  • Reviews and advises other departments and offices on their various internal newsletters and updates describing or promoting Firm initiatives or disseminating firm news.
  • Supervises the efforts of the London-based CRM team.
  • Handles other internal communications tasks, as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives.

Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or a related field. A combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of the role.
  • Demonstrable progressive experience in marketing communications, journalism or other communications roles.
  • Experience writing and editing high-quality, content-driven internal communications materials.
  • Strong working knowledge of all aspects of writing and editorial, including familiarity with editorial style manuals.
  • Outstanding writing ability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • WordPress (preferred).
  • Adobe Creative Suite (preferred).
  • Basic understanding of HTML (preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside vendors.
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the Firm.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with shifting priorities.
  • Self-starter with a high level of initiative.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to anticipate needs and exercise independent judgment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion.
  • Exercises solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
