The Department Corporate and Securities law sits at the core of Mayer Brown's global practice. With over 300 lawyers across four continents, we advise on some of the most complex, high-value and strategically significant transactions in the market. Our work spans jurisdictions, sectors and structures-supporting leading global businesses as they navigate critical moments of growth, transformation and investment. Our clients include a broad mix of public and private companies, financial institutions and private equity sponsors, including many of the world's most recognisable organisations across the Fortune 100, FTSE 100, CAC 40, DAX and beyond.

Responsibilities

As an Associate in the group you will work on a variety of complex, cross-border and high profile transactions. You will be part of a close-knit, collaborative team with a strong reputation in the market. Our private equity practice is built on long-standing relationships with sponsors-from fund formation through to investment, portfolio management and exit. We take a genuinely commercial approach, combining deep technical expertise with a strong understanding of our clients' investment strategies. Our teams are structured to bring sector insight and practical judgement to every mandate-allowing us to deliver clear, pragmatic and innovative solutions, even on the most complex transactions. The London team continues to see sustained growth, advising an expanding roster of European sponsor clients. As a result, we are looking to add ambitious and commercially minded lawyers who want to play a key role in the next phase of that growth.

You will be involved in all aspects of private equity transactions, including:

  • Structuring and executing cross-border acquisitions and disposals;
  • Advising on leveraged buy-outs and growth equity investments;
  • Supporting on financing arrangements alongside lenders and financial institutions;
  • Managing the full transaction lifecycle, from initial structuring through to completion and exit;
  • Advising on related matters including tax structuring, warranty & indemnity insurance and other ancillary issues;

Our practice spans a wide range of industries, including infrastructure, technology, life sciences, healthcare, energy, consumer and financial services-offering you the opportunity to build both sector and transactional expertise.

Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes

A qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with 1-3 years post qualification experience and a qualified Solicitor (England & Wales).

We are looking for a confident and collaborative lawyer who thrives in a high-performing team and enjoys working closely with clients. You will bring:

  • Solid experience in corporate M&A, ideally within a leading law firm;
  • Strong private equity transaction experience, with exposure to sponsor-side work and equity documentation;
  • Exposure to ECM or public M&A (advantageous, but not essential);
  • A commercial, pragmatic mindset and the ability to deliver clear, solution-focused advice;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to build relationships with clients and colleagues;
  • A proactive approach, with a genuine interest in business development and growing your network;
  • A strong academic background (minimum 2:1 or equivalent);

Posted Pay Range

The typical pay scale for this position is between GBP £150,000.00/Yr. and GBP £163,000.00/Yr., although the actual wage or salary could be lower or higher if the candidate's education, experience, skills and internal pay alignment are different from those specified.
