Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the management of an existing portfolio of clients and woodlands;
- Contributing to woodland assessments and producing FC approved Woodland Management Plans;
- Assisting with the production of UKFS-compliant Woodland Creation Design Plans;
- Contributing to grant applications including EWCO and Countryside Stewardship;
- Assisting with Ancient Woodland Restoration Assessments and production of Reports;
- Supporting the planning and implementation of new woodland creation schemes as well as restocking and maintenance schemes;
- Forestry and woodland mapping and data management via GIS;
- Manage and develop a subcontractor network, utilising our supplier evaluation procedure;
- Supporting our consultancy division to complete any other relevant documentation as required for organisations such as Forestry Commission, Rural Payments Agency, Environment Agency, Natural England, Woodland Trust.
Skills and Requirements:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject;
- Excellent verbal communication skills;
- The ability to use initiative;
- Love of the outdoors and the environment;
- Good all-round knowledge of trees, woodlands and habitats;
- Some understanding of current woodland policy and grant schemes;
- Excellent IT and Administration skills, including use of GIS;
- The ability to develop relationships with colleagues and clients;
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable skills and qualifications:
- Good knowledge of woodland ecology;
- Lantra Professional Tree Inspection qualification;
- Knowledge of Industry standards and all relevant legislation.
Working days/hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00, 40 hours per week, although with the option to agree different starting and finishing times, or to negotiate reduced days.
Work location: The role will be largely remote, with occasional working from our offices in Dorney (nr Windsor). We are ideally looking for applicants based in Surrey, Sussex, Berkshire, Hampshire or Wiltshire.
