About Mayday
We are an accounting-tech startup building automation and AI to eliminate the tedious manual spreadsheet-based work that haunts in-house finance teams every single month. We serve the mid-market end of SMB: in-house finance teams of 2–10 people. Our mission is to mend month end and enable real-time accounting.
We recently passed £1m ARR and are growing fast after four years in market, doubling our revenue in 2025. We’re in a phenomenal position as category leaders — evidenced by our strategic partnership with Xero and winning Xero’s Global People’s Choice Award, ahead of 1,200+ connected solutions. Our team spans the UK, Australia and South Africa, with the UK and Australia as our largest markets and North America now opened up as a growth focus. We’re founded by experienced entrepreneurs and backed by elite investors, we’re doubling the team to 24 as we accelerate the next phase of growth.
The Role
Reporting into David, our CEO, you’ll be a founding member of our marketing team. You’ll work closely with Emily, our Events & Partnerships Manager, as well as the Head of Content we’re also hiring for. We’re a product-led business. We have a 30-day free trial, with a 36% conversion rate and an average annual contract value of £1.5k.
This role sits at the heart of Mayday’s growth strategy. We are very much still in the playbook-writing stage. Today, we grow reliability in absolute terms. Now to grow reliably in percentage terms! We’re now looking for a Head of Growth to take what’s already working, scale it aggressively, and build the next phase of our growth engine — combining proven channels with disciplined experimentation and discovery. Across all our markets, you’ll own demand generation end-to-end: from audience growth and engagement, through to conversion into product usage and paid customers.
The current centrepiece of our go-to-market engine is CFO Techstack — a fast-growing community built to answer two core questions for in-house finance teams:
- How do you build a best-in-class finance tech stack around an SMB accounting system (primarily Xero and QuickBooks Online)?
- Whether — and when — you actually need to move to an ERP
Since launching in September 2023, CFO Techstack has grown to 5,000+ members who sit squarely in our ICP, and has become a major source of credibility and acquisition for Mayday.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Scaling what we know works
- Grow the CFO Techstack community both organically and through paid channels
- Build on strong early results from paid LinkedIn tests
- Tap into a clearly identified LinkedIn audience of ~760k finance leaders
- Maximise conversion from CFO Techstack → Mayday
- Website, email, paid media, working closely with our Head of Content on the assets required to achieve this
- Clear ownership of the journey from awareness through to PLG activation, conversion and referral
- Optimise performance of Xero and QuickBooks Online app store listings
- Improve conversion from high-intent marketplace traffic
- Discover and unlock new growth
- Develop and execute a clear experimentation roadmap across demand gen channels
- Own SEO / GEO — an area we’ve underinvested in despite having a deep trove of high-quality content
- Identify and scale any additional channels that can drive efficient, repeatable growth
- Use data, insight and customer understanding to decide what to double down on — and what to kill fast
- Build the growth function
- Own a £150k annual discretionary growth spend budget
- Hire and manage one junior growth hire
- Work closely with product, founders and the wider team to ensure growth, messaging and product experience reinforce each other
About You
B2B SaaS Growth Marketer who has led demand generation within a small team at this stage of company growth. Experience working with or around accountants and finance teams is a nice to have but not essential. You just need to be hungry to learn.
Comfortable building a growth function with limited resource, operating at all levels from presenting at board meetings to hands-on execution of campaigns. You think creatively with big ideas about campaigns and the energy to execute on them. You want to use technology creatively, turning to automation where possible. A great communicator and strong writer, adapting the messaging for different customers, teams and cultures. Data driven. Constantly testing, learning and optimising marketing campaigns based on results. Curious and passionate about the product and the impact it can deliver. Strong team leader, highly collaborative, developing relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders.
The Details
Salary £70-100k depending on skills and experience; Share options from day 1; 25 days’ paid holiday, plus public holidays; 1-2 days a week (including Fridays) in person in Central London. We will provide co-working membership for the remaining days if needed; Opportunity to travel to Australia and North America at least once a year. The global nature of the team plus time differences mean that some degree of early morning or evening calls is unavoidable. We will make sure the weight of those is borne evenly between you and the relevant Australian / South African team members.
