We are seeking a dedicated and experienced General Nurse with prison clearance to join our client's healthcare team in Edinburgh. As a General Nurse with prison clearance, you will play a crucial role in providing healthcare services to incarcerated individuals, ensuring their well-being while adhering to the unique challenges and security protocols of a correctional facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment and Care: Conduct comprehensive health assessments of inmates, including physical and mental health evaluations. Develop and implement individualized care plans, providing nursing care, medications, and treatments as required.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond swiftly and effectively to medical emergencies within the prison facility. Administer basic life support measures and coordinate with the healthcare team for advanced care when necessary.
  • Medication Management: Administer medications accurately and safely, adhering to prescribed dosages and schedules. Monitor inmates for medication compliance and report any adverse reactions or concerns.
  • Security and Safety: Comply with all prison security measures and safety protocols. Maintain awareness of potential security risks while providing healthcare services.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed and accurate medical records for each patient, including electronic health records (EHR). Prepare reports and documentation in accordance with prison healthcare policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Infection Control: Implement strict infection control measures to prevent the spread of diseases within the prison population. Promote and educate inmates on proper hygiene and disease prevention.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with the prison's healthcare team, including physicians, psychologists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive patient care. Communicate effectively with inmates, addressing their health needs and concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Previous experience working as a General Nurse in a correctional facility or similar secure environment with prison clearance.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in a challenging and secure environment.
  • Knowledge of correctional healthcare regulations and protocols is a plus.
