We are on the lookout for a Market Strategy & Planning Manager to join our commercial team. This role would be great for someone coming from a commercial facing role or experience in Business Operations.
We will focus on developing the commercial strategy for the Category & Channel you will lead across the organization, providing key strategic insights & integrating these within the organization to drive the commercial category & channel strategy. Within this you will lead the associated pricing and promo policies, net revenue management & regional EPD requirements for your category & channel with the Global team, driving improved revenue growth & profitability.
What will you be doing:
- Identify the key category insights for Fuel: utilise relevant market, consumer, and performance insights to define the regional category strategy.
- Create the Regional Category growth Strategy for your category & ladder to the UK growth strategy & lead the sell in/presentation to your customer/channel: Work with the regional Category Manager to develop compelling stories for our product & category plans.
- Define the annual 5P’s plan by Category & for your Channel: Working with the Global Category teams share regional insights to define regional category strategies on product, price, promotion, place, presentation; provide a clear plan by channel and lead the regional teams (Regional Marketing, Retailer Category Manager and sales teams) on implementation through monthly meeting reviews (DBTs).
- Review regional category & channel P&L: Performance should be tracked monthly using market data, sell out data, and sell in data, P&L review.
- Promotions; Recommend the regional Promotional plan by category by channel/customer to the sales team, managing varying Retailer Promotional strategies & track YOY performance of promotions.
- Pricing: Own the Regional pricing recommendations & net net price recommendations including any CPI recommendations, analysis & tracking of impact of CPI and ASP changes in the market place.
- Manage the regional product portfolio: create and manage the regional assortment plan by channel (ensuring clear channel segmentation & differentiation to drive growth) whilst achieving given commercial and supply chain KPI’s.
- Input insight to the regional NPD plans: Identify Innovation / product gaps in market using data and drive NPD initiatives through the global Category teams for the regional channel requirements & share insight through FUEL process. Ensure Channel differentiation for NPD. Input commercials into NPD business cases where required.
- Competitor Insights; Stay ahead of competition in the market, identifying threats and Must Win Battles, leading war game workshops when necessary, bringing competitor insights to the relevant forums for decision making/information/ABP.
What skills and experiences you’ll need to ace this job:
- Education: Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Accounting.
- Experience: Proven experience in commercial, business operations roles and from an FMCG background.
- Strong analytical and commercial acumen with experience in marketing finance and trade spend management.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management / collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of the market and consumer goods industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the brands, products and customers.
- Strong influencing skills for both peers and stakeholders to represent CD needs.
- Proven accountability and able to focus and drive critical topics and empower others.
