We are on the lookout for a Business & Quality Systems Manager to join the Mayborn family! The Business & Quality Systems Manager is responsible for providing global management system representation and audit support, to ensure the effective delivery of our Quality, EHS and ESG Management Systems. The role will lead on coordinating and maintaining ISO certification (9001, 14001, 45001 and 13485) across our key sites, to support compliance, innovation, continuous improvement and our brand reputation.
The role holder is responsible for coordinating other certification and benchmarking activities to support the successful implementation of Mayborn’s ESG strategy, including Internal Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) and SEDEX Members Ethical Trade Audits (SMETA). This specialist role provides technical knowledge of international standards as the frameworks to inform on our governance, process consistency, effectiveness and operational efficiency to support product development, risk management and key business programs.
What you will be doing:
- Leading as the Global Management System Representative to ensure all manufacturing sites and our headquarters have effective and robust ISO Management Systems, which comply with the requirements of ISO 9001/14001/45001.
- Leading as Management System Representative with the Medical Device Management System (ISO 13485), including communications with competent authorities and notified bodies as required.
- Managing, maintaining, and improving our Business Management Systems (BMS) and global approach, supported by our site-based Quality, EHS and Product Compliance Representatives.
- Leading on and coordinating internal audits, documentation control and management reviews activities with internal teams, as required.
- Identifying and driving continuous improvement activities across sites and departments through internal audits, to support both business and customer needs.
- Developing and updating global policies and procedures to meet the requirements of the ISO programs, including the Global Quality Policy.
- Managing a suite of dedicated software applications (Qpulse and Regscan) to manage documents and to monitor & deliver legislative and systems compliance.
- Maintaining the HQ Legal Register, supported by the Legal Team.
- Providing Quality inductions and training to raise employee appreciation and awareness and promoting our QEHS global approach.
- Acting as the main contact for third‑party certification bodies.
- Ensuring ongoing suitability and effectiveness of the management systems in line with the business’ expanding ISO requirements.
- Using technical ability to develop management system frameworks to deliver any specialist certification schemes, e.g. chain of custody certification schemes (ISCC).
- Coordinating and supporting preparations for annual SMETA ethical audits across our factories.
- Supporting the Head of ESG and Safety in delivering a global approach to EHS, with ‘Safety First’ best practice and improvements identified through the delivery of ISO standards.
- Supporting on supplier evaluations and external audits to ensure suitability and effectiveness of Mayborn’s supply base with regards to quality, environment, H&S and ESG standards.
- Managing the central budget in relation to certification and audit costs, working with Legal in relation to contract approvals.
- Collaborating with Head of ESG & Safety on collating data and preparing presentations for strategic reviews, events, awards etc.
- Supporting in the coordination, updating and delivery of the business continuity plan and associated risk management activities.
- Working closely with the EHS Administrator on ensuring effective BMS administration, whilst providing support and guidance to them in the absence of the Head of ESG & Safety.
What skills and experiences you’ll need to ace this job:
- Experience of working in a similar role.
- Certified Lead Auditor (ISO 9001, 14001 or 45001).
- Progressive knowledge and experience of implementing Management Systems and change management activities to achieve certification.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Educated in a relevant technical area (quality management preferred).
- In depth knowledge and experience of ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 and delivering and maintaining certification.
- Knowledge and experience of ESG / Ethical Manufacturing requirements.
- Experience of developing and embedding a positive Quality / EHS culture.
- Strong presentation and engagement skills, with an ability to be effective in influencing others (internally and externally).
Preferred, but not essential (training will be provided):
- Experience of management representative responsibilities in relation to ISO 13485 (medical devices).
- Knowledge of Carbon Certification (ISCC) and SEDEX Members Ethical Trade Audits (SMETA) or similar.
- Experience of using Q-Pulse Quality Management Information System (QMIS) or similar would be advantageous.
- Understanding of business continuity, resilience and risk management processes.
