Maxwell Consultancy are working closely with an established, family run engineering business in their search for a Mechanical Fitter. This is a full-time, permanent position working in their state of the art workshop.
Role Overview
Assembling, installing and maintaining a wide range of industrial machinery and production equipment. This role suits someone who takes pride in precision engineering, thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys solving mechanical challenges with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical assembly — Build and fit machine parts, components and assemblies using metals and other materials.
- Installation & maintenance — Install, maintain and repair plant equipment to a high standard.
- Technical drawings — Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately to produce components with minimal supervision.
- Quality focus — Work with strong attention to detail and a zero‑defect mindset.
- Problem solving — Identify issues proactively and implement effective solutions.

Working Pattern
Standard hours (37 hours per week): Mon–Thurs • 07:30 or 07:45 start • 15:55 or 16:10 finish • 10‑minute paid tea break • 25‑minute unpaid lunch break. Fri • 07:30 or 07:45 start • 12:30 or 12:45 finish • 10‑minute paid tea break.
Benefits Package
- £19.26/hr basic rate (37 hours per week).
- Overtime available — time‑and‑a‑half outside normal hours; double time after 12:00 on Saturdays and all day Sunday.
