CNC Miller - 5 Axis - 4 day Working Week in Glasgow

Maxwell Consultancy is delighted to be working in partnership with a highly successful and rapidly expanding precision engineering business in Glasgow to recruit an experienced CNC Miller.

Operating from a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, our client supplies critical precision-machined components to the Aerospace and Defence sectors, with a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and investment in cutting-edge technology.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the business during a significant period of growth. Following substantial investment in new machinery and a major increase in headcount over the last 12 months, the company is continuing to strengthen its manufacturing team with the creation of this brand-new role.

The Role

As a CNC Miller, you will be responsible for setting and operating a range of CNC machining centres to produce high-precision components to exacting standards. You will work across a variety of multi-axis machining cells, ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Set, operate and adjust CNC milling machines to manufacture precision-engineered components.
• Working on a 5axis Mori Seiki (training provided)
• Interpret and work from complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Manufacture components to tight tolerances and stringent quality standards.
• Work across low, medium and high-volume production runs.
• Operate within various multi-axis machining cells.
• Perform in-process and final inspections of components using appropriate measuring equipment.
• Identify and resolve machining and non-conformance issues where required.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency and quality.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues, engineers and production teams to optimise workflow.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment, adhering to all health and safety procedures.
• Contribute positively to the company's culture of quality, teamwork and operational excellence.

Candidate Requirements

• Time-served CNC Machinist, or demonstrable experience working within a CNC machining environment.
• Proven experience setting and operating multi axis CNC milling machines.
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience working to tight tolerances within a precision engineering environment.
• Knowledge of Siemens, FANUC and/or Haas controls.
• FANUC controls and operational experience would be highly advantageous.
• Experience within a subcontract machining environment is desirable.
• Previous experience manufacturing aerospace or defence components would be highly beneficial.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Flexible approach to working a rotating day and night shift pattern.
