We're looking for an experienced 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer to join a growing Managed Services team, supporting complex on-premise and hybrid infrastructure environments. This is a senior technical role focused on advanced troubleshooting, technical ownership, and service improvement. You'll act as the final point of escalation for complex infrastructure issues, working closely with service desk, project, and customer teams to deliver exceptional support while driving continuous improvements across customer environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents and service requests
- Take ownership of issues through to resolution, ensuring excellent customer communication throughout
- Support planned infrastructure changes, upgrades, and release activities
- Identify recurring issues and carry out root cause analysis to reduce repeat incidents
- Produce and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles
- Work closely with Service Management and project teams to continually improve services and processes
- Participate in an on-call rota supporting critical customer infrastructure outside of business hours
- Help mentor junior engineers and set the technical standard within the Service Desk
What We're Looking For
- Strong experience supporting enterprise on-premise infrastructure within a Managed Services or similar environment
- Expertise across virtualisation technologies including VMware and Hyper-V
- Experience with enterprise storage platforms, server hardware, backup, and disaster recovery solutions
- Good understanding of cloud administration alongside traditional infrastructure technologies
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a structured approach to problem solving
- Experience working within ITIL environments, including Incident, Problem, and Change Management
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Someone who enjoys taking ownership, improving services, and delivering a first-class customer experience
