Description & Requirements

  • Assess learner needs and skills through pre‑course assessments, develop a learner improvement plan (ILP) with SMART goals to address barriers and skill gaps.
  • Deliver outstanding, personalised, accredited or non‑accredited interventions with embedded personal and social development to help prepare learners for further learning, employment and confidence.
  • Work as a key member of the team, maintaining continuous contact and relationships with all operational colleagues.
  • Engage externally with employers, agencies and other stakeholders such as Local Authorities, WYCA, DWP/JCP, NCS, etc.
  • Administer screeners, initial and diagnostic assessments for each learner, and develop and maintain tailored ILPs (including action plans) with SMART targets.
  • Plan lessons effectively, ensuring activities are innovative and differentiated to meet individual learner goals across various subject areas (multi‑disciplinary trainers are prioritised).
  • Deliver accredited and/or non‑accredited training programmes to 19+ adults in subject areas that may include Hospitality and others.
  • Train, assess, motivate, mentor and support learners, assisting them to develop personal and social skills for work and independence.
  • Deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment, ensuring the curriculum provides appropriate stretch and challenge.
  • Develop resources and bespoke materials to meet the needs of learners and employers.
  • Embed Maths, English, Digital, Soft Skills and Personal Development Behaviour & Attitudes (PDBA) themes, including safeguarding.
  • Provide additional support to learners with SEND, ESOL and other learning needs.
  • Undertake regular and meaningful reviews with learners to ensure engagement and progress.
  • Maintain learner records accurately, both hard copy and electronically, ensuring evidence is available for audit and quality purposes.
  • Use MIS (including ILR) data to track learner progress against the ILP and KPIs, addressing trends through one‑to‑ones and action plans.
  • Monitor attendance and progression, ensuring all teaching, learning and assessment components are completed for qualification achievement.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of key documents, policies and procedures such as self‑assessment reports and quality improvement plans.
  • Implement improvements identified from performance reviews and internal quality assurance.
  • Participate in standardisation and team meetings, completing continuing professional development activities including observations of teaching & learning.
  • Maintain professional and occupational knowledge through formal training, networking and self‑reflection.
  • Encourage, undertake and respond to learner and stakeholder feedback, contributing to Maximus Training’s cycle of quality improvement.
  • Participate in staff review and performance management processes, identifying and meeting training needs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential: Hold a minimum Level 3 teaching qualification (PTTLS or equivalent) and, where required, subject‑specific qualifications and/or occupational knowledge to support delivery to 19+ adults, prioritising multi‑disciplinary trainers. English and Maths to at least Functional Skills Level 2. Level 3 Award Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement or equivalent.
  • Desirable: CTTLS; Level 4 Award in the Quality Assurance of Assessment Process and Practice or equivalent; experience using online learning platforms and portfolios.

Individual Competencies

  • Deploy motivational strategies to develop individuals.
  • Proven experience of adult or work‑based learning, teaching and assessment.
  • Track record of delivering funded employability programmes with complex learners.
  • IT literacy with Microsoft Office, 365 products and modern digital technologies such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills and ability to forge relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering services to meet contractual and quality standards.
  • Ability to meet and exceed retention and achievement targets for qualifications and progression outcomes.
  • Manage learner numbers in line with budgets and delivery profiles.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Reliable with a good sickness record, except for legitimate disability absences agreed with the company.
  • Commitment to quality and customers.
  • Training delivered face‑to‑face (Maximus site or employer/outreach premises) and/or online (e.g. webinars).
  • Work flexibly, with occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Undertake any other tasks and responsibilities appropriate to the level of the post.
  • Comply with all Maximus policies and procedures, including statutory responsibilities such as Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Prevent and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Travel Requirements

  • Allocated on‑site base with willingness to travel and work across Bradford, Leeds & Huddersfield (Essential).
  • Full driving licence and vehicle ownership (Desirable).

Minimum Salary: £28,800.00 • Maximum Salary: £33,800.00
