Role Overview
The Knowledge Architect designs and governs the structures, standards and ways of working that enable colleagues to capture, find, reuse and apply organizational knowledge quickly and confidently. This role owns the knowledge architecture for the business, ensuring that critical expertise and evidence are documented once and deployed many times—into guidance, playbooks, proposals, case studies and learning assets. Working across teams, tools and channels, the Knowledge Architect improves information flow, reduces duplication, and increases quality and consistency so people can access the information and collateral they need for engagement and growth activity.
Accountabilities
- Knowledge architecture and governance: Maintain the organization’s knowledge architecture to improve findability, consistency and reuse. Own knowledge governance: roles and responsibilities, contribution standards, review cadences, version control and quality assurance.
- Strategic knowledge hub / library ownership and navigation design: Own the strategic knowledge hub, ensuring high-value content is captured, curated and structured so teams can self‑serve. Design navigation, information hierarchies and search experiences to make the “right answer” easy to find.
- Capture-to-reuse workflows (knowledge enablement): Create scalable processes to capture knowledge from delivery, bids, projects and SMEs and convert it into reusable assets (playbooks, templates, FAQs, case studies, evidence packs and white papers where appropriate). Introduce standards for evidence-based content so claims are traceable, current and ready to deploy into internal and external materials.
- Tooling, integration and continuous improvement: Partner with Digital/IT to optimize knowledge tools (e.g., intranet, SharePoint, document management, search) and embed the architecture into platforms and templates. Use analytics and user feedback to measure adoption, search success and content health, prioritizing improvements that reduce friction and duplication.
- Collaboration and stakeholder management: Work across functions (Operations, Bid/BD, Growth enablement, Communications, HR, Legal/Compliance) to align knowledge priorities to business strategy and delivery needs. Partner closely with the growth function to analyze bid evaluation criteria and scoring, using insight to improve knowledge assets and strengthen the quality and consistency of written bid responses over time.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Experience in knowledge management, information architecture, content strategy or a closely related discipline.
- Proven ability to design and implement content models in a complex organization.
- Experience owning or improving a knowledge hub/library (e.g., intranet/SharePoint/DMS), including findability and search performance.
- Strong understanding of content governance, quality assurance, version control and information lifecycle management.
- Comfortable working with subject matter experts to capture tacit knowledge and convert it into reusable, evidence-based assets.
- Experience using data and analytics to measure knowledge adoption and improve content health and user journeys.
- Excellent written communication and editorial skills, with a focus on clarity, accuracy and usability.
- Strong facilitation skills: able to run workshops to define structures, agree standards and capture knowledge.
- Systems thinking and attention to detail, with the ability to design simple experiences for complex information.
- Stakeholder management and influencing skills, able to drive adoption in a matrix environment.
- Comfort with digital tools and working with product/IT teams to translate requirements into platform changes.
- Degree or professional qualification in information science, knowledge management, library science, content strategy, UX, communications or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Desirable
- Knowledge of the sales lifecycle and how enabling assets support pipeline development and conversion.
- Experience or knowledge of public sector bidding, including bid evaluation/scoring and the knowledge requirements of tender responses.
