About the role:

As a Team Leader you will manage a team delivering Weight Management Services to local families, building relationships, facilitating referrals, developing SOPs, and ensuring high‑quality, person‑centred service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring referral activity, starter, retention, and completion through case management.
  • Supporting production and analysis of management information for reporting.
  • Coordinating training and continuous professional development.
  • Ensuring deadlines are met and contributing to team planning and improvement.
  • Embedding the service within local networks and communities.
  • Developing relationships with stakeholders and workplaces.
  • Establishing clear onward referral pathways.
  • Outreach and community engagement.
  • Coordinating and delivering promotional events.
  • Disseminating resources and information.
  • Representing the service at meetings, conferences, and forums.
  • Overseeing caseload management and performance data.
  • Managing referral flow to sub‑contractors.
  • Deploying a framework to review and assure team competency.
  • Ensuring staff are trained, motivated, and supported.
  • Setting performance‑based objectives aligned to contract requirements.
  • Ensuring delivery meets service specification and national evidence/guidance.
  • Capturing evidence through feedback, case studies, and complaints monitoring.
  • Identifying service improvement needs.
  • Ensuring compliance with national standards, NICE guidance, SLAs and SOPs.
  • Implementing policies and systems (Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Information Security).
  • Ensuring compliance with government guidance on diet, alcohol, physical activity, weight management, smoking cessation.
  • Adapting to changes in government guidance.
  • Providing proactive supervision and training.
  • Supporting access to supervision and personal development plans.
  • Assisting the Service Manager with recruitment, onboarding and induction.
  • Creating a culture of further development and feedback.

What we are looking for:

  • Supervisory experience managing a diverse team.
  • Direct health coaching delivery experience.
  • Caseload management via a case management system.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable individuals through change.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Experience coordinating health and wellbeing services.
  • Strong understanding of social determinants of health.
  • Knowledge of population‑based approaches, segmentation, risk stratification.
  • Knowledge of behaviour change principles and methodology.
  • Track record of building and maintaining relationships.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and management.
  • Experience delivering behaviour change interventions for lifestyle issues (physical activity, NHS Health Checks, weight management).

Desirable:

  • Membership of professional bodies (ICF, EMCC, AoC, UKHCA).
  • Degree in a relevant subject (e.g., Psychology, Behavioural Science).
  • Health coaching qualification or accredited programme.
  • Experience supporting people remotely via telephone or digital platforms.
  • Experience in community development in deprived areas, project management, or developing new services.
