Job Summary A critical role working with the People Safety Manager to deliver the safety approach across the organisation, ensuring systems and practises are effectively implemented at a local and day to day level and full compliance with health and safety legislation, industry standards and accreditations. Effectively manage employee safety risk, working closely with the wider team to integrate safety into our wellbeing agenda and provide regular insight, trends and data that informs and highlights areas of focus. Foster external networks and partnerships to stay at the forefront of safety best practice and ensure the wider wellbeing team and relevant stakeholders are kept updated and policies are aligned. We are particularly interested in applicants who have worked in a similar setting to Maximus, or the service sector, and who have experience of managing health and safety related to mental health (stress risk policies etc). Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Implement, review and improve safety policies and procedures across the organisation, ensuring full compliance with health and safety legislation, industry standards and accreditations to mitigate risks to employee safety. Remain updated on changes in legal and regulatory requirements and update policies accordingly. • Regularly review and update policies and procedures to reflect changes in standards, regulations and organisational need. Continual development of manager tools and guidance to enable them to drive safety within day to day operations. • Subject matter expert and working closely with operational colleagues and managers to ensure recording, investigation, route cause analysis and remedial actions are implemented, risks are mitigated, and good practise is followed to enable safe working practises. Prepare required reports and follow up on recommended corrective actions, raising any concerns of non-conformity. Work closely with the audit team to ensure any health and safety audit risk is monitored, tracked and mitigated. • Work with wellbeing leads and provide subject matter expertise to proactively support wellbeing initiatives and ensure compliance with health and safety law and regulations. Ensuring appropriate measures, monitoring and support systems are in place to safeguard employees. • Manage the day-to-day use of health and safety technology platforms, tracking H&S activity and ensuring transparency, accountability and data accuracy. Ensure employees and managers are trained on the use of safety reporting tools to improve accessibility and adoption and support the wider team with continuous improvement of our tools and systems. • Analyse health, safety and wellbeing data to identify trends, report findings and support with strategic insight. Deliver regular management information and reports to leadership teams that provides key trends, insights, risk and focus areas. • Support with the design and delivery of safety initiatives, ensuring physical, mental and financial health are supported through risk management and compliance. Develop resource, content and training that engages and instils a safety culture, ensuring managers are equipped to promote safety within their teams. Qualifications & Experience • NEBOSH certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification • Strong technical knowledge of health and safety legislation, standards and accreditations, risk assessment processes, and operational safety practises • Experience overseeing, guiding and managing compliance for risk assessments, audits, accidents, incidents and near miss investigations within local operations • Familiar with health and safety management systems and technology platforms • Previous experience in a multi-site organisation • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and able to engage with individuals at all levels • IOSH membership or working towards professional membership • Previous experience of lone working mitigation • Experience or knowledge of health and safety within an overall wellbeing setting • Communication and engagement • Technology savvy • Attention to detail • Adaptability and resilience • Care and empathy Travel Requirements – Minimal – as and when required.
