Join to apply for the Health Team Leader role at Maximus UK. This role is to cover our smoking cessation programmes across Walsall and Buckinghamshire. We are ideally looking for someone with people-management skills, ideally with a background in smoking cessation or similar services. The role is primarily remote but will include some face-to-face delivery and ad-hoc meetings.

About the role:
You will be managing a team that will deliver Weight Management Services to the area, empowering local families to be healthier and happier. You will build relationships with families to learn what they care about, the barriers they face and the strengths they bring as individuals, families and communities. You will be responsible for coordination of effective and efficient behaviour change and screening services. Key focuses include referral management, personalised care pathways (aligned to needs/preferences) and health coaching delivery. You will develop and deploy standard operating procedures (SOPs) that ensure highly effective customer experiences, driving positive and sustained behaviour-change outcomes across lifestyles, including healthy eating, nutrition and physical activity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor referral activity, starter, retention, and completion information.
- Support the production and analysis of management information to support internal and external reporting requirements.
- Ensure training and continuous professional development (CPD) is coordinated and rolled out in a timely manner.
- Contribute to team organisation, planning and continuous improvement.
- Embed the service within local networks and communities.
- Develop positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders across health, wellbeing, community and voluntary sectors.
- Develop trusting and beneficial relations with workplaces, optimising opportunity to support workforces to adopt positive health and wellbeing behaviours.
- Create simple, clear and friction-free onward referral and sign-posting pathways.
- Undertake outreach work within the community and build connections with local organisations and other services.
- Coordinate and deliver events to promote and generate high-quality referrals.
- Represent the service at meetings, conferences and forums.
- Perform caseload management and performance data analysis via the virtual care platform.
- Ensure staff are trained, motivated and supported to deliver the highest standard.
- Ensure compliance with national standards, NICE guidance, contract and company quality standards, SLAs and SOPs.
- Monitor, implement and embed all policies and systems relating to service delivery.
- Support the Service Manager in recruitment, onboarding and induction of team members.
- Embed a culture of further development and constructive feedback.
What we are looking for:
- Experience of a supervisory role with a diverse team.
- Direct health coaching delivery experience.
- Experience of caseload management via a case management system.
- Experience supporting vulnerable individuals through a change process.
- Evidence of continuous professional development to ensure delivery of up-to-date health coaching.
- Experience coordinating health and wellbeing services.
- Strong understanding of social and wider determinants of health.
- Strong understanding of population-based approaches including segmentation and risk stratification.
- Strong understanding of behaviour change principles and methodology.
- Strong interpersonal relationship skills and ability to build, develop and maintain relationships.
- Excellent internal and external stakeholder engagement and management.
Desirable:
- Experience delivering behaviour change interventions for specific lifestyle issues (physical activity, NHS Health Checks, weight management).
- Membership of professional bodies (ICF, EMCC, AoC, UKHCA).
- Degree in a relevant subject (e.g., Psychology, Behavioural Science).
- Relevant health coaching qualification or accredited health coaching skills programme.
- Experience supporting people remotely/telephonically/digitally.
- Experience in community development in areas of deprivation, project management and developing new services.
