About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for you to become an External Trustee of our Maximus Foundation.
You will act as External Trustee of the Maximus Foundation UK (CIO), supporting the chair to ensure the charity is well governed and meets its objectives. In addition you will provide a balanced view and input to the operations of the Foundation and support with external promotion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the board of Trustees undertake all Trustee duties
- Attend and actively contribute to the Foundation’s quarterly board meetings
- Jointly agree and approve ad-hoc budget spend (outside grant giving)
- Assist with driving forward the aims and objectives of the Foundation
- Make joint funding decisions on all nominations received each cycle
- Make joint decisions about any processes or changes to the Foundation’s activity
- Provide a balanced view and input to the operations of the Foundation
- Support with external promotion of the Foundation via social media and web
- Attend and deliver cheques to chosen charities as part of cheque presentation visits
- Collect signed media forms and photographs from each visit for use in promotional activity
What we are looking for:
- Previous experience and/or excellent understanding of Trustee role (desirable)
- Experience of supporting with legal governance and compliance matters
- Basic understanding of the third sector and UK government’s charity commission
- Experience of operating at board level
- Experience of comms/marketing or external promotion (social media, web and other)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong communicator, with good relationship building skills
- Creative, imaginative self-starter who can bring new ideas to promote the Foundation
- Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment.
- Strong attention to detail skills
