This newly created role will support two established pension arrangements (one DB and one DC scheme – both open) with combined assets of approximately £1.5bn and around 4,500 members. Although offered initially as a 12-month fixed-term contract, the organisation views this as a long-term requirement and is hopeful the role will either be extended or converted into a permanent position. This is a common route into the organisation and one which has provided many employees with a long-term career.

The Role

  • Working closely with senior Reward professionals, you will help ensure the organisation’s retirement benefits remain well-governed, competitive and effectively communicated.
  • Your responsibilities will include:
    • Supporting the day-to-day management of the DB and DC pension schemes.
    • Coordinating key annual activities including benefit statements, actuarial valuations, audits and annual reports.
    • Supporting pension committee meetings, governance processes and documentation.
    • Managing relationships with pension administrators, advisers and other external providers.
    • Producing clear and engaging pension communications for members.
    • Responding to complex member and stakeholder queries.
    • Supporting pension policy development and benefits projects.
    • Delivering pension education and financial wellbeing initiatives.
    • Maintaining pension knowledge resources, guidance materials and intranet content.
    • Contributing to benchmarking exercises and strategic benefits reviews.

About You

  • You will likely bring:
    • Significant experience within pensions consultancy or in-house pensions management.
    • Strong knowledge of DB and DC pension arrangements.
    • Experience supporting trustees or pension governance committees.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
    • Experience writing member communications and delivering presentations or training.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • A collaborative, consultative and low-ego approach to working with stakeholders.
    • A PMI qualification (or equivalent) would be advantageous but is not essential.

Why Join?

  • This is an opportunity to work on pension arrangements of real scale and importance while joining an organisation known for its collaborative culture, international outlook and commitment to employee wellbeing.
  • You’ll benefit from:
    • Meaningful and intellectually stimulating work.
    • Exposure to senior stakeholders and strategic decision-making.
    • A highly flexible hybrid working model built on trust and autonomy.
    • Outstanding Canary Wharf offices and excellent on-site facilities, including a heavily subsidised staff restaurant.
    • A diverse, inclusive and genuinely supportive working environment.

If you’re looking for a position where you can apply your pensions expertise while contributing to the ongoing development of a significant retirement programme, this role offers a unique and rewarding opportunity. Location – Canary Wharf, strong agile working is offered.
