An international construction consultancy is seeking a Senior Consultant to join their strong claims and disputes division in their office in Central London. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a well-rounded knowledge of the Quantity Surveying role, who either already has some experience in the claims and disputes sector or has a strong interest in getting into Claims work. Previous claims experience is ideal; however, not essential as full transitional support in this field will be given. The transition from Quantity Surveying to Claims work is thought to be relatively simple for Quantity Surveyors who fully understand Cost Plans and Variations and are able to look at these at a highly analytical level. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from the best in the business whilst being exposed to exciting disputes on major and more minor projects alike in project or claim value.
Responsibilities and Duties
- The role available is to work as a Senior Consultant within the business providing support to an Associate or a Director on claims & disputes in the construction market.
- A large amount of your time will be working on claims in various construction sectors, as well as analysing documents at an expert level and assessing any grounds for negligence or unreasonable pricing and reporting these findings.
- The majority of this work will relate to construction claims and disputes on major national and international projects.
- During a year, you will likely be involved in multiple projects and the role will offer exposure to an exciting variety of projects.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Strong knowledge and understanding of typical Quantity Surveying duties including cost plans and variations is essential.
- Experience of working in the building or civils/infrastructure sectors are both favourable.
- You should be within an easy commute of Central London.
- Willingness to progress - Eager to work and specialise as a Claims professional in construction.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Qualified to degree level or similar equivalent is desired - Membership to a professional body such as the RICS or similar equivalent is required or on route to completing.
