Exciting opportunity to work for a specialist Claims and Dispute Consultancy organization based in their London office. The primary duties in this role are to manage a variety of client assignments relating to dispute resolution, dispute avoidance, and claims management. The business is hoping to hire a candidate that can add their valuable claims and claims management experience to the senior management team in London.
Your scope of work will include a range of civil and building projects located in the UK and in international locations. You will gain exposure to a genuine diverse variety of claims and disputes projects. Claims and disputes will often be in relation to high value, high profile and complex projects across all building and engineering sectors in the UK and in some instances, overseas.
Within this position, you can expect to work with a variety of clients, from large national contractors to smaller subcontractors and all in between. Your reporting will be directly to the Managing Director and you will become an integral member of the management team within the Claims Management business from London.
Responsibilities and Duties:- Managing client assignments
- Handling Claims and Disputes
- Proceeding on behalf of the client
- Managing and preparing construction claims including variations, extensions of time, disruption claims, acceleration claims
- Management of the company’s team of internal and external staff
- Recruiting, assisting, and mentoring your team in their professional development
- Assisting with business development by increasing the clients through current individual network and contacts as well as those already established by the company
- Strong technical skills and knowledge with a proven track record of operating in a specialist role focused on quantum claims and disputes related work
- Excellent report writing skills
- Experience of writing adjudication applications and responses
- Proven, demonstrable experience in leading dispute processes such as adjudication and arbitration and managing a construction claims team on a client claims assignment
- Proven track record of strong managerial experience of mentoring and developing junior staff
- Proactive approach to business development and generating work to achieve growth plans
- Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills
- A construction related degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or Cost Management is preferred
- MSc or LLM in Construction law is essential
- Professional membership of relevant professional body such as the RICS or MRICS or similar would be advantageous
