Clerk of works position with an established Quantity Surveying and Property consultancy. Clerk of works to inspect and report on sites around the St Neots, Cambridgeshire area. Company car is provided, and business mileage paid. Projects will largely be new build and refurbishment projects with a strong emphasis on the residential sector.

As Clerk of Works, you will need to demonstrate an ability in undertaking instructions of building works in progress on newly built residential sites. A good knowledge of current Building Regulations and Warranty provider standards is required. You should be comfortable with regular travel around the St Neots, Cambridgeshire area.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Act as the principal point of contact with the social housing client regarding construction quality on site.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to ensure issues are resolved early and that all stakeholders are satisfied with the quality of the construction process and the social housing end product.
  • Manage multiple social housing projects simultaneously and deploy excellent time management strategies to ensure efficient working practices.
  • Visit multiple sites regularly using the company car provided.
  • Provide the Administration team in head office with dictated reports and photographs following each site inspection for timely report issuance and follow-ups.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the building and housing industry, with basic technical and construction awareness and competence.
  • Show a good working knowledge of materials, trades, methods, and legal requirements.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and colleagues.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Knowledgeable construction professional with experience in a similar role, such as Clerk of Works, Employers Agent, or Building Control/Warranty Inspector.
  • Previous work for social housing organisations, consultancies, or building contractors/housebuilders is highly desirable.
  • Good knowledge of building regulations and the ability to read construction drawings.
  • Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office 360 (e.g., Word, Outlook & Excel).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Great attention to detail and good time management.
  • Strong client-facing skills with demonstrable experience.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
  • Clerk of Works ICWIC accredited/accreditation is beneficial.
  • Other designations such as CIOB, CABE, RICS, IFE will also be considered.
  • A formal qualification in construction, engineering, or project management would be advantageous.
