A leading national civil engineering contractor is looking to hire an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to work from their Milton Keynes office. The successful candidate will likely be a recent graduate or an upcoming graduate with an RICS recognised degree in Quantity Surveying and interested in working for a leading main contractor on civil engineering projects. The company specialise in the civil engineering aspects of large projects, particularly in the retail sector, performing groundwork, medial works, and external works to large buildings such as supermarkets, shopping centres, and distribution centres. However, they are not limited to such work and perform as a main contractor or sub-contractor on a variety of other civil engineering projects.
Responsibilities and Duties
- You will work closely with one of the Senior Quantity Surveyors in the business.
- Your role will involve a combination of being office based and site based.
- You will provide general commercial assistance to senior staff on the project.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Some experience in an assistant/Trainee Quantity Surveyor role is desired, either post qualification or as a placement year whilst studying.
- High level of numeracy and verbal and written English.
- Strong organisation and planning skills.
- Highly computer literate.
- Good team working skills.
- Able to record records accurately.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Completion or working towards an RICS supported Degree/qualification in Quantity Surveying is essential.
