Responsibilities and Duties- Leading the forensic investigation and analysis of project delays on complex construction and engineering projects.
- Preparation and oversight of prospective and retrospective delay analyses, including the critical review of technical information, project records, and delay evidence.
- Development, management, and quality assurance of delay programmes and analytical models, ensuring accuracy, robustness, and defensibility.
- Preparing baseline and impact programmes for new projects and overseeing the monitoring, updating, and resequencing of live project programmes.
- Drafting and reviewing detailed delay analysis reports for use in commercial negotiations and formal dispute resolution proceedings, including mediation, adjudication, arbitration, and litigation.
- Preparation or defence of extension of time (EOT) claims on behalf of employers, main contractors, and sub-contractors.
- Supporting expert witnesses with technical analysis, report preparation, and hearing preparation.
- Providing guidance, mentoring, and technical review support to junior delay analysts and planners.
- Contributing to business development activities, including proposal support and client relationship management.
- Typically 6+ years’ experience as a construction planner, delay analyst, engineer, or project controls professional.
- Demonstrable experience leading delay analyses on complex construction or engineering projects.
- Advanced proficiency in planning software including Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, and Microsoft Project.
- Strong working knowledge of standard forms of construction contract and their application to delay and EOT matters.
- A well-developed understanding of construction contract law, particularly as it relates to planning, delay, and disruption.
- Proven ability to manage workloads independently while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex delay issues clearly and persuasively.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptability and flexibility to manage changing priorities and deadlines.
- Degree-level education in a construction-related discipline.
