A Senior Consultant role exists to join a market leading Expert Witness consultancy based out of central London. The successful candidate will work within the Construction Management (CM) Expert Services division and provide analytic support to the lead expert on Construction Management related expert services. In this role, you may also gain exposure to providing high level strategic advice to clients on major domestic and international projects, as part of the advisory service that our client offers. Whilst working in this role you are likely to gain exposure to a variety of projects over the course of a 12-month period. However, the hiring company has a reputation of being involved on major international disputes for expert services.
The advisory services division are often used to provide services on major government ran or similar projects both domestically and internationally, many of which are in excess of £100m and on the higher end, even into the billions of GBP.
Responsibilities and DutiesIn this role you will work closely with the lead expert on providing analytical and practical support for CM related expert services, often for disputes that are heading for arbitration or litigation. You will be responsible for scrutinising documentation relating to the dispute and assessing grounds for negligence, then providing an expert opinion based on your findings. You will be expected to draft sections of the expert report based on your findings and be prepared to be cross examined internally based upon your findings.
Desired Skills and Experience- Should have a successful track record of working for a reputable, Construction Management company for a consistent period of time, such as Mace or Lend Lease (or similar businesses performing a Construction Management role).
- Candidates must be articulate and have strong client facing skills.
- Should have sufficient experience in industry/projects to be able to identify grounds for negligence when assessing programmes of works.
- Analytical and methodical approach to work and the ability to analyse documentation to an unprecedented level of scrutiny.
- Candidates who are now working for a professional Construction Management company, yet have had some experience working for a main contractor earlier in their career are particularly desirable, however this is not essential for the ideal candidate.
- Some exposure to dealing with Delay related claims issues such as extensions of time would be advantageous.
- Some exposure to assisting on expert witness related work would be advantageous, but is not essential.
- Must be a member of a relevant professional body such as CIOB, ICE, RICS or a similar equivalent.
- Must hold a relevant Degree or similar equivalent qualification.
