A Quantity Surveyor is required to work for one of the UK's largest privately owned contractors with a reputation for excellence in the civils sector. The successful candidate will work on one of the company's contracts for a major water provider in Lincolnshire. The company's role is to maintain and repair their assets as part of an alliance. You will be based in Lincoln and provide commercial support on multiple contracts.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assessing and awarding sub-contractor applications
  • Cash Allocation reporting
  • Writing or providing information for writing weekly and monthly reports
  • Cost analysis
  • Assisting more junior QS staff where applicable
  • Liaising with other members of the alliance to gather information
  • Leading meetings where necessary
  • Finding ways to cut costs whilst maintaining quality and performance

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Candidates will ideally have worked in the civils sector before. Specific utilities experience would be advantageous, however is not essential.
  • Candidates should have a good understanding of general day-to-day duties as a QS for a main contractor and be able to carry them out without supervision.
  • Candidates must be strong analytical thinkers and have the ability to resolve issues amicably with the client and other parties involved in the alliance.
  • Should see an emphasis on maximising profits by finding viable cost savings rather than issuing large numbers of variations to clients.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

  • Candidates will ideally be educated to Degree level (or similar equivalent), however this is not essential for the ideal candidate.
