An exciting career opportunity for a Graduate Employer's Agent to join a cost consultancy based in London due to their increased workload and to enable further growth of our Employer’s Agent services. Your role will be to work closely with the team with Employers Agent and Surveyors on new build housing projects. Your employer is a leading multidisciplinary cost consulting and project management consultancy that has a fantastic reputation providing long term Employers agent services.
The Graduate Employers Agent role comprises conducting the full spectrum of post-contract services for Housing Associations, Local Authorities and Developers, initially supporting other Employer’s Agents before gaining experience and managing projects independently. The successful candidate will be an individual who is dynamic, flexible, responsive, and able to work in challenging timescales. Good people skills are essential as well as a basic understanding of the design and build construction process. Full training will be provided. Working hours are 9 am to 5.30 pm with an hour for lunch. The hiring company has hybrid working arrangements which allow staff at their choice to work remotely for 2 days of the week.
Responsibilities and Duties
- To assist other Surveyors in the delivery of Employer’s Agent services for the delivery of the project(s) which will require attending progress meetings and producing meeting minutes.
- To assist the project Employer’s Agent, follow up and proactively manage the project on an ongoing basis.
- Assist the project Employer’s Agent in undertaking all day-to-day administrative duties on the delivery of projects under the terms of JCT, Design and Build, Bespoke Development Agreements etc.
- Support the project Employer’s Agent to routinely report on time, cost, and quality to the client and proactively manage associated risks.
- To successfully manage the handover process including undertaking pre-handover inspections.
- To manage post-completion activities including end-of-defect rectification period inspections, agreement of the final account, and auditing the Building Manual.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Knowledge and basic understanding of the construction processes.
- Have a basic understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle. The role requires travel across the South of England to construction sites as well as regular attendance at our Southampton office.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Great organisation skills to be able to prioritise work.
- Ambition and character to grow professionally and personally with the business.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Undertaking or having completed a High Education course related to Construction / Surveying.
