An expanding and highly reputable construction consultancy is seeking to appoint an experienced Quantum Director to join its growing expert witness division. The role can be based in London or undertaken remotely, with periodic travel to the London office as required.
The successful candidate will have significant experience in quantum, construction claims and dispute resolution, with a strong track record of preparing detailed quantum analyses and contributing to high-quality expert reports. Experience working as a No.2, lead assistant or senior team member supporting recognised Quantum Experts on major disputes would be highly advantageous. Candidates are not required to have previously acted as an appointed expert witness or given testimony.
This opportunity is well suited to an established quantum disputes professional looking to further develop their expert witness experience, profile and responsibilities, with the potential to progress towards securing their own expert appointments in the future.
You will work for a highly reputable consultancy with technical, quantum and delay experts recognised by Who's Who Legal (WWL). The Director will play a key role in managing and contributing to quantum expert commissions for the Forensic Expert Witness team. This involves devising and discussing solutions, presenting findings both internally and externally, and driving efficiency, value creation, and optimal use of resources within the team.
The Director will work closely with established Quantum Experts on major disputes and will have the opportunity to develop towards taking on their own appointments in the future. Deliverables typically relate to formal dispute resolution processes such as litigation, arbitration, and adjudication. In addition, the Director will provide strategic advice on ongoing projects, settlement negotiations, and mediations, both in the UK and internationally.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Support and represent the consultancy in dispute resolution proceedings
- Act as a No.2 / lead assistant to the Quantum Expert on large disputes
- Prepare high-quality quantum analyses and expert reports
- Participate in Senior Leadership Meetings where appropriate
- Business Development and promoting the consultancy’s brand and services to potential clients and employees and championing the organisation’s values and objectives
- Develop towards building a reputation within the expert witness market and potentially taking expert appointments in the future
- Overseeing team administration
- Staff Development and training
Desired Skills and Experience
- Highly competent in writing quantum sections of expert reports and undertaking detailed quantum analysis
- Significant experience working on construction and engineering disputes
- Experience working alongside Quantum Experts or within an expert witness consultancy environment would be highly advantageous
- Experience across different markets, types of construction and engineering projects and claims
- Strong understanding of formal dispute resolution processes including arbitration, litigation and adjudication
- Strong ability to develop and maintain a network of client relationships
- Previous appointment as an expert witness or experience providing testimony is not required
