A Business Development Manager for a fire safety company is needed to focus on developing sales of Fire Doors to new and existing clients in the UK. Ideally based in the London area or the wider London region, you will be tasked with developing sales opportunities across the UK fire doors and passive fire protection market. This role will suit a commercially focused sales professional with experience selling fire doors, construction products, building safety solutions or related specialist services. The successful candidate will be able to cover London and the Greater London region, as well as travel across the UK to meet clients, develop new business, and support existing customer relationships.
The role will focus on fire doors, fire safety products and passive fire protection solutions for customers such as contractors, facilities management providers, landlords, education providers, healthcare organisations, public sector bodies and commercial property owners. The role will involve helping clients identify suitable fire doors and fire safety solutions to support safe, compliant buildings.
Responsibilities and Duties- The Business Development Manager Fire Doors will be responsible for growing sales revenue, building relationships and identifying opportunities for fire door and wider fire safety product sales across London, Greater London and the wider UK.
- Develop new business opportunities for fire doors, passive fire protection and related fire safety solutions across the UK.
- Use London and Greater London as a strong regional base for developing national customer relationships.
- Travel across the whole of the UK to attend customer meetings, site visits, presentations and business development opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with contractors, property owners, facilities management providers and commercial clients.
- Identify customer requirements and provide commercially suitable fire door and fire safety product recommendations.
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through to quotation, negotiation and close.
- Maintain regular contact with existing accounts to encourage repeat business and long-term customer relationships.
- Work closely with internal technical, customer service and operations colleagues to support customer enquiries.
- Prepare sales proposals, quotations and commercial information in a clear and professional manner.
- Keep accurate records of customer contact, opportunities, pipeline activity and sales performance.
- Monitor competitor activity and market opportunities in the fire doors and fire safety sector.
- Represent the business professionally when attending meetings, site visits, trade events or customer presentations.
- Previous business development, field sales, account management or technical sales experience is preferred.
- Experience selling fire doors, passive fire protection, fire safety products or construction-related products would be highly desirable.
- Based in London, or able to commute easily into the area.
- Willingness and ability to travel across the UK for client meetings and business development activity.
- Good understanding and experience of commercial sales processes, pipeline management and account development.
- Ability to identify customer needs and convert enquiries into profitable sales opportunities.
- Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence dealing with contractors, consultants, property managers, facilities managers and end clients.
- Commercial awareness and ability to work towards sales targets.
- Organised, self-motivated and comfortable managing a national sales territory.
- Good written skills for preparing quotations, proposals and customer correspondence.
- A practical understanding of building safety, fire safety compliance or construction product sales would be advantageous.
- A relevant qualification in sales, business, construction, fire safety or building services would be advantageous.
- Fire door, passive fire protection or fire safety product training would be desirable.
- Full UK driving licence is likely to be required due to regular UK-wide customer travel.
