A leading Claims company are seeking an Associate to join a growing team in their office near Covent Garden in Central London. The ideal candidate will be a Claims Professional with a strong Quantity Surveying background with site based experience and a well rounded knowledge of the Quantity Surveying role, who has an interest in joining a renowned claims and disputes company in a pivotal role. Previous claims or Expert Witness experience is essential as you will be in a pivotal role within the business reporting directly to the team of Partners. You will be taking the lead on complex Claims work utilising your Quantum skills, whilst being able to fully understand Cost Plans and Variations with the ability to look at these at a highly analytical level. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the best in the business whilst being exposed to exciting disputes on major and more minor projects alike in project or claim value.
Responsibilities and Duties
- The role available is to work as an Associate within the business taking the lead on claims & disputes in the construction market.
- A large amount of your time will be working on claims in various construction sectors, as well as analysing documents at an expert level and assessing any grounds for negligence or unreasonable pricings and reporting these findings.
- The majority of this work will relate to general construction claims, with a smaller portion of work relating to the Expert Witness field.
- During a year, you will likely be involved on multiple projects and the role will offer exposure to an exciting variety of projects.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Strong knowledge and understanding of typical Quantity Surveying duties including cost plans and variations is essential.
- Experience of working on site for either a Consultancy or Contractor in construction is essential.
- Qualified to degree level or similar equivalent is desired.
- Membership to a professional body such as the RICS or similar equivalent is required.
- MSc or Post Graduate Diploma in Construction Law related course is beneficial.
- High level of exposure to Claims work is essential.
- All sector experience is considered due to variety of works.
- You should be within an easy commute of Central London.
- Willingness to progress and manage a small team when necessary on larger commissions.
