The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will work across a diverse portfolio of construction and infrastructure projects in the private and public sectors with both contractor and client-side organisations. The consultancy works on a diverse project portfolio including rail, airports, roads, highways, residential, commercial, education, healthcare and more. The role offers the chance to contribute to both traditional quantity surveying services with responsibility for leading commercial activities across projects and supporting junior team members where appropriate.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide high-quality quantity surveying services to clients
- Lead commercial activities on projects and take ownership of project delivery responsibilities
- Support the expert witness team on quantum claims
- Manage small to medium-sized projects or substantial elements of larger commissions
- Establish client requirements for cost planning and cost estimating
- Advise on procurement strategies and commercial approaches
- Prepare tender and contract documentation
- Carry out tender appraisals and provide procurement recommendations
- Monitor, record and report project costs
- Value completed works and arrange payments in accordance with contract requirements
- Prepare budgets, progress reports and cost value reconciliations
- Identify commercial risks and assess cost variations
- Maintain variation records and risk registers
- Issue notices in accordance with the contract conditions
- Produce project reports and claims-related reports
- Prepare and agree final accounts
- Attend and lead project meetings, providing commercial input and advice
- Keep up to date with construction industry requirements and market developments
- Work collaboratively with advisory and expert teams where required
- Support and mentor less experienced team members where appropriate
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in a consultancy, contractor, developer or related commercial environment
- Strong numerical, commercial and data analysis skills
- Good understanding of cost planning, tendering, valuations and final accounts
- Ability to lead the delivery of both pre-contract and post-contract quantity surveying duties
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Positive approach to client care and problem solving
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Competent user of Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience of working alongside expert witness and advisory professionals would be advantageous
- Ability to manage client relationships and support junior colleagues
Qualifications/Educational Requirements:
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or closely related subject
- MRICS achieved or working towards professional membership would be advantageous. Although support towards this can be provided.
