Role Overview
The Chartered Engineer will provide specialist engineering expertise across inspection, compliance, asset integrity and technical consultancy activities. The role requires a strong engineering background combined with practical industrial experience and the ability to support clients with technically robust and commercially effective engineering solutions. The successful candidate will support engineering inspections, pressure systems compliance, risk management and technical project delivery while acting as a trusted advisor to clients across multiple industries.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Support- Provide engineering expertise for pressure systems, industrial gas and process equipment.
- Assist in the preparation and review of Written Schemes of Examination (WSE).
- Support compliance with:
- Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR)
- Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)
- BS EN standards
- ASME and API codes where applicable
- BCGA Codes of Practice
- COSHH
- HSG 258
- Review engineering documentation, drawings and specifications.
- Assist in the design and specification of compressed air and industrial gas systems.
- Conduct technical assessments of pressure vessels, pipework and associated systems.
- Support engineering calculations, system evaluations and integrity assessments.
- Assist in ensuring a high level of Q.A. is attained within the company and that our activities meet the requirements of ISO 9001.
- Ensure that the company’s H&S requirements are met and produce/maintain Method Statements & Risk Assessments as required.
- Liaise with clients and approval bodies to maintain the company’s certifications/approvals.
- Assist in ensuring the company’s Procedures and Policies are up to date.
- Participate in engineering inspections and site audits.
- Assess pressure systems for safety, operational integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Produce technical reports and engineering recommendations.
- Support clients with maintenance strategies and corrective actions.
- Provide technical consultancy support to industrial clients.
- Assist in delivering engineering projects from concept through implementation.
- Liaise with clients, contractors and inspection bodies maintenance companies.
- Support proposal development and technical quotations.
- Maintain strong professional client relationships.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with company and client safety procedures.
- Promote engineering best practice and continuous improvement.
- Support compliance with internal quality systems and standards.
- Participate in risk assessments and hazard identification activities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng), or equivalent.
- Experience within industrial, manufacturing, energy or process engineering sectors.
- Knowledge of pressure systems and mechanical engineering principles.
- Strong technical report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage client-facing activities.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience with pressure systems inspection and compliance.
- Knowledge of:
- PSSR
- PED
- Industrial and laboratory gases
- Compressed air systems
- Steam / Hot Water systems
- LEV systems
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
- Experience within consultancy or technical services environments.
- NDT or asset integrity experience.
