If you're ready to step into a genuinely influential Senior Paraplanner position, this is an opportunity to join a respected wealth management practice where your technical expertise will directly support advisers, develop junior colleagues and help shape the quality of financial planning delivered to clients.

Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Senior Paraplanner to strengthen their technical capability following the departure of a long-standing team member. Working alongside Financial Advisers and a team of junior paraplanners, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting complex client cases whilst acting as the first point of contact for technical guidance across the paraplanning function. This is a hands-on paraplanning role rather than a people management position. Whilst you'll naturally mentor and support less experienced colleagues with complex cases and technical queries, your primary focus will remain on delivering high-quality financial planning support and helping advisers achieve the very best outcomes for their clients.

Following a structured induction, you'll quickly become confident using the firm's systems, St. James's Place products and internal processes, before progressing to independently managing complex financial planning cases and supporting the wider team with your technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level technical paraplanning support across a wide range of complex client cases
  • Work closely with Financial Advisers to develop suitable financial planning solutions aligned to client objectives
  • Prepare detailed suitability reports, cashflow models and technical recommendations
  • Research and analyse investment, pension, retirement, tax, protection and estate planning solutions
  • Produce accurate illustrations, comparisons and supporting technical documentation
  • Act as the technical 'go-to' person for junior paraplanners, supporting them with complex queries and case discussions
  • Assist new Advisers with technical queries and paraplanning support where required
  • Ensure reports and recommendations meet regulatory and compliance standards
  • Maintain accurate case tracking and liaise with providers to progress client cases efficiently
  • Keep up to date with the advice framework and sharing any changes with the wider team
  • Support the ongoing quality and technical standards of the paraplanning team

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' paraplanning experience within an IFA or Wealth Management environment
  • Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning (minimum)
  • Strong technical knowledge across pensions, investments, retirement planning, tax and protection
  • Experience using financial planning research and cashflow modelling software
  • Comfortable producing detailed suitability reports and complex financial planning recommendations
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Able to work independently whilst supporting and mentoring less experienced colleagues
  • Outstanding communication and organisational skills

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and collaborative wealth management practice where technical excellence is genuinely valued. You'll become a trusted adviser to both Financial Advisers and junior paraplanners alike, working on interesting and complex financial planning cases within a supportive team environment.

Please note this is a fully office-based position, reflecting the collaborative way the business works across its advisory and support teams. If you're an experienced Senior Paraplanner looking for a long-term opportunity where your expertise will be recognised and your technical knowledge will have a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.
