If you're an experienced Validation Engineer, Test Engineer or Automation Engineer with experience testing physical hardware products, this is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a critical function within a growing technology business. Established and growing rapidly, our client develops innovative technology solutions for the global broadcast industry. Continued growth in product range, customer demand and business value has created the need for a dedicated Validation Engineer who can transform how products are tested, validated and measured across the organisation.

This is not a traditional testing role where you'll inherit mature frameworks and established processes. Instead, you'll play a pivotal role in designing and implementing automated validation systems from the ground up. Working with specialist broadcast hardware, test equipment and automation technologies, you'll help transform a largely manual testing environment into a scalable, data-driven validation function.

Working at the intersection of validation engineering, automation and software development, you'll take ownership of the validation infrastructure, identifying opportunities for automation, integrating hardware test equipment and building scalable testing solutions that provide meaningful performance and quality data to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, document and implement robust validation and test procedures
  • Develop automated test frameworks and scripts using Python and Bash
  • Build and maintain test automation pipelines and supporting infrastructure
  • Identify, evaluate and integrate hardware test equipment into automated workflows
  • Develop APIs and interfaces to enable automated interaction with test equipment
  • Analyse test results, monitor trends and provide meaningful performance metrics
  • Produce reports and insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Investigate issues, perform root cause analysis and maintain accurate records within ticketing systems
  • Collaborate closely with software, firmware and hardware engineering teams
  • Help shape the future direction of validation and testing across the organisation
Skills & Experience
  • Strong Python and Bash scripting skills
  • Experience working within Linux environments
  • Proven experience designing and implementing automated testing solutions
  • Experience building and maintaining test automation pipelines
  • Experience interfacing with hardware programmatically using APIs
  • Strong understanding of automation frameworks, tooling and best practice
  • Experience producing technical documentation and test procedures
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and SVN
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical solutions
Desirable Experience
  • CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
  • AI-driven testing methodologies
  • Jira, Trac or similar ticketing systems
  • Electronics engineering background
  • Broadcast or media technology experience
  • Previous mentoring or leadership experience

This is a genuinely influential role where you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of testing and validation within a growing business. You'll work with a wide range of cutting-edge broadcast technology, collaborate with highly skilled software, hardware and firmware engineers and play a key role in improving product quality and development efficiency across the organisation.

Whilst the role is primarily site-based due to the use of specialist laboratory equipment, there is flexibility for hybrid working where appropriate and after probation, particularly as automation systems become established. If you're looking for a role where you can genuinely make an impact, take ownership and build something valuable from the ground up, we'd love to hear from you. Apply now!
