An outstanding opportunity exists for an experienced marketing professional to join one of the country's leading commercial barristers' chambers. With more than 100 members and a strong international reputation, Chambers has grown considerably in recent years. The set has an established reputation for excellence in advocacy and advisory services worldwide in all areas of commercial and financial litigation, dispute resolution, international arbitration and public international law. Chambers is now looking to appoint a confident, proactive and commercially minded Marketing and Events Manager. This newly elevated role offers considerable responsibility, visibility and scope for professional development.

Working within a close-knit three-person team, the successful candidate will deliver a varied programme of marketing, business development and event activity while anticipating future requirements. Key responsibilities include managing client events, seminars, receptions and profile-raising activities from concept through to successful delivery. The role will also support strategic planning, practice-group development and senior client engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Taking ownership of Chambers' programme of client events, seminars and other profile-building activities.
  • Planning events from inception through to completion, including venues, invitations, communications, materials, suppliers and attendance.
  • Representing Chambers professionally at events and helping to provide an excellent experience for members, clients and guests.
  • Coordinating marketing activity across Chambers' principal practice areas.
  • Supporting the preparation and implementation of practice-group business plans.
  • Contributing to annual reports, budgets and other strategic marketing projects.
  • Producing and coordinating high-quality written and digital marketing communications.
  • Helping to maintain Chambers' website, mailing activity and other marketing channels.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve engagement with clients and strengthen Chambers' market position.
  • Building effective relationships with barristers, clerks, colleagues and external professional contacts.

Standard working hours are 9.00am to 6.00pm.

Skills & Experience
  • An experienced marketing professional with strong events-management capabilities.
  • Proactive, organised and able to anticipate requirements without needing constant direction.
  • Comfortable balancing strategic priorities with detailed, hands-on delivery.
  • Confident working with senior professionals and managing a wide range of personalities.
  • Diplomatic, resilient and able to exercise sound judgement in a demanding environment.
  • An excellent written and verbal communicator with strong attention to detail.
  • Commercially aware and genuinely interested in client relationships and business development.
  • Able to manage multiple projects, deadlines and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Comfortable contributing ideas while respecting established practices and ways of working.
  • Ambitious, enthusiastic and keen to continue developing professionally.

Experience of WordPress, Mailchimp and Adobe applications would be helpful, although effective delivery and consistently high-quality work are more important than expertise in any single platform. Applications are invited from marketing professionals with experience in a barristers' chambers, law firm or comparable professional services environment. Above all, applicants must demonstrate the sound judgement, diplomacy and relationship-building skills required to succeed in a complex professional environment.

As events are central to the role, applicants must be willing to attend breakfast and evening functions and work flexibly when required. The position will particularly suit someone who enjoys managing events from planning through to completion. Most activity will take place in London, with occasional UK travel. Overseas travel is not currently expected. This is an opportunity to make a visible contribution within a successful organisation where the marketing function is highly valued. If you are seeking greater ownership and long-term development within a prestigious professional environment, apply now!
