Client Relationship Mangers, known as Practice Managers within the chambers environment, sit at the commercial heart of a barristers' chambers.

They manage the practices and caseloads of barristers, respond to client enquiries, understand the strengths of individual barristers and help match the right expertise to each opportunity.

The role combines client relationship management, commercial negotiation, complex diary and workload management, and long-term practice development.

It is varied, fast-moving and influential, offering real responsibility and strong progression for someone prepared to learn.

You will be supported at every stage to understand how chambers operates, learn its specialist markets and develop the judgement required to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop trusted relationships with solicitors and other professional clients.
  • Understand client requirements, respond to enquiries and help identify the right barrister for each matter.
  • Build detailed knowledge of individual barristers' expertise, availability and developing practices.
  • Negotiate fees, quotations and terms in a professional and commercially sensible way.
  • Manage diaries, caseloads and changing priorities with accuracy and calmness under pressure.
  • Support the commercial development of barristers' practices, including by identifying opportunities to strengthen client relationships.
  • Maintain accurate information in practice management and CRM systems.
  • Work closely with marketing, finance and other internal teams to deliver a consistently high standard of service.
