In order to ensure a consistent, gold standard service is delivered to each of our client's highly valued customers, a dynamic, highly organised Graduate Technical Officer with a relevant scientific degree and a passion for continued learning is required to join an industry leading provider of radiation protection services who, for 40 years, have worked proudly at the forefront of Medical Physics.

Our client is the largest single provider of radiation protection and associated services to users of ionising and non-ionising radiations.

Working closely with the NHS and private hospital sectors, their customer base also includes veterinary and dental practitioners, small individual and large group practices, as well as security, industrial and education sector organisations.

Based at our client's Liverpool site and working collaboratively within the wider team, the successful candidate will be required to conduct on-site service maintenance visits and operational checks across a wide-ranging suite of cutting-edge equipment at sites throughout the UK.

All necessary training will be provided of course, giving you the skills required to succeed in this important customer facing role, allowing you to build on our client's reputation as a world leading provider of radiation protection services.

Key Responsibilities

  • To conduct, in accordance with the quality management system, pre and post-survey administrative duties to prepare survey data forreporting.
  • To undertake safety testing, i. e., surveys of equipment and the environment where ionisingandnon-ionisingradiationequipmentorradioactivematerialsareused.

Thiswillprimarilyconsist of medical and dental equipment used in healthcare, though may involve equipment used in other industries.

  • Provide technical support to the RPA for ensuring compliance with the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017.
  • Provide technical support to the MPE for ensuring compliance with the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017.
  • Provide technical support to the RWA for ensuring compliance with the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016.
  • Provide technical support in compliance with MRI Safety Guidelines in line with the MHRA.
  • Provide support to the Quality Assurance team, utilising bespoke softwaretools.
  • Provide training to staff on safe practices in ionising & non-ionising environments and performing local QA.
  • Contribute to internal & external training courses.
  • Conduct checks and maintenance on all equipment including vehicles, and radiation testingequipment.
  • Oversee the co-ordination of technical equipment calibration with the approved calibrationservice.
  • Communicateanyfaultsordeficienciesto the Survey Manager.
  • Preparing Radiographic, Fluoroscopic & CT Patient Dose Audits for relevant Business Unit customers.

Skills & Experience

  • A science related degree qualification is essential.
  • A full driving licence is essential because of the travel involved. Company vehicles are provided for travel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
  • Able to demonstrate team leadership.
  • Experience of data analysis.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Experience of establishing and maintaining a safe practice environment.

Due to the nature of the role, the post holder should be willing and able to work on-site at locations across the UK.

As a result, it is anticipated that approximately 15-20 overnight stays per year will be required in order to succeed in this role.
