Northampton General Hospital is looking for a skilled Chef to become part of our dedicated team in the main restaurant. Bring genuine passion for food, strong creativity, excellent organisation, and a flexible approach, with an interest in innovative cuisine, street‑food influences, and high‑quality hospitality. You will provide good quality food to the required standard at the correct times every day, and maintain the kitchen and all related areas to the required level of hygiene, completing all appropriate daily documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Make sure food produced is done within HACCP & food safety guidelines, and record accurately to ensure prompt and efficient service.
- Assist the Head Chef with stock taking, buffet and function preparation, and any related administrative duties.
- Maintain kitchen and related areas to the required hygiene standards, completing all appropriate daily documentation.
- Check food stores and ensure correct storage of products.
- Actively combat waste and record all waste correctly, keeping food wastage to a minimum.
- Wear protective clothing in line with policy, and use approved safe methods when lifting and handling.
- Lead by example, guiding and directing staff in the team and conducting yourself in a respectful and professional manner.
- Report any work difficulties, potential hazards, or equipment defects promptly to the responsible line manager.
- Assist in the checking of food stores and correct storage of products.
- Clean up any spillage or spoilage that may occur as part of “clean as you go” working practices.
- Complete any other reasonable requests related to tasks identified by the Head Chef or Deputy Catering Manager.

- NVQ Level 2 and Food Safety Awareness (HACCP & COSHH).
- Delivered a Service in a similar role, ability to perform well under pressure in a busy kitchen.
