ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Light and Air team, in either our Edinburgh or London office, working on some of the most prestigious projects in the UK and beyond. The work will typically comprise designing architectural lighting and daylight for projects in the arts and culture sector as well as in sports, workplaces and education, running lighting projects and supervising graduates. You would also be involved in job winning and marketing.
You will learn to think about buildings in an integrated way as part of a wider team, considering both natural and artificial light as well as understanding how to make our projects use less energy. Integrated thinking will enable you to solve problems other approaches might not even find. It's an exciting and satisfying way to work.
MAX FORDHAM LIGHT + AIR
The Light + Air group was born of a desire to combine the ideas, elements, inventions and curiosities that we are continuously exploring in our projects. We are a small team of full-time inventors, researchers and scientists in the field of lighting, supported by a wider group of engineers and experts. Our portfolio of recently completed lighting projects includes LSO St Lukes, the Centre for Humanities at Oxford University and the National Portrait Gallery, as well as New Magdalene Library in Cambridge, the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow and the Musée d'art de Nantes.
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate would be very creative, skilled in using CAD and lighting analysis tools, with an ability to write about, illustrate and model proposals. With 5 or more years of experience in lighting design, preferably including cultural and high-profile buildings with leading architects, you would be confident to take a client and design team facing role on landmark projects.
If you have a relevant degree with a minimum grade of 2:2 or above, or equivalent, and you are curious about pushing the boundaries to make buildings more beautiful, work better and use less energy, then we would love to hear from you.
