We are looking for a skilled MEP Engineer with a broad understanding of MEP systems to make a real impact on the quality and performance of MEP installations. We are particularly looking for someone with strong site experience ideally gained with a main contractor who is eager to expand their knowledge and career while shaping the buildings of tomorrow.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Having established a strong relationship with several clients, particularly across the residential sector, we are now looking to expand the growing specialist MEP Guardian service that we are currently offering, bolster our capability and reach more clients; the successful candidate will be instrumental in accomplishing these goals. Based in our London office, the MEP Guardian will join a strong and dynamic team that thrives on collaboration, working on a range of ongoing projects. This is a high-impact, hands-on role, delivering high-quality, compliant MEP solutions. The central aspects of the role will be MEP Guardian and Monitoring, providing direct support to the sector lead and assisting with current and upcoming projects.
Key Responsibilities
- MEP Installation Monitoring / Guardian Role: Performing design reviews, reviewing contractor's information, conducting on-site installation monitoring, and carrying out witnessing and acceptance testing, to ensure quality and compliance.
- MEP System Optimisation or Troubleshooting Studies: Conducting optimisation studies for existing MEP installations to enhance efficiency, reduce operating costs, improve reliability, and prove compliance.
- Setting the Standard: Development of internal tools (trackers, schedules and calculations, testing procedures) for use by others within the Practice. Assisting with the management of the internal knowledge sharing platform. Internal design reviews to ensure standards are maintained across the practice.
- Supervision: Mentoring, supporting and managing the output of graduate and junior colleagues as the team expands.

ABOUT YOU
Your enthusiasm to be at the forefront of a rapidly expanding service is paramount. You will have acquired a wealth of experience and a broad understanding of a range of MEP systems working in the building services industry, being competent in both detailed design assessment and practical on-site inspection and troubleshooting. You are likely to be a Senior MEP Engineer, but you may also be an Intermediate Engineer ready to take the next step in your career or an MEP Coordinator working with a contractor who wants to broaden their experience. You will be comfortable attending sites, representing the practice and writing follow up reports for clients and contractors to engage with. A motivation to communicate and work collaboratively with others, both internally and externally, is essential, along with:
- Being a Chartered engineer or working towards chartership status.
- Having an understanding of the realities of site-based work.
- Experience inspecting MEP installations on site.
- Strong written communication skills, evidence of producing reports that are well-presented and clear.
- Being an effective communicator, comfortable representing the practice in meetings with clients, collaborators and contractors.
