HGV Technician / Mechanic / Fitter

*Job Summary* We are seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join our team, responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy goods vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety. The successful candidate will possess a strong mechanical background, with experience in equipment repair and maintenance. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise a wide range of technical skills to deliver high-quality service. *Hours of work* Full time Monday - Friday with alternative Saturday shifts. Overtime available at flat rate. *Duties* * Working on a wide range of HGV trucks and trailers * Carry out mobile and workshop-based jobs. * Conduct routine inspections and diagnostics on HGVs to identify faults and necessary repairs * Carry out servicing * Perform mechanical repairs and assembly of vehicle components * Fault diagnostics * Repair or replace faulty parts using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment * Maintain detailed records of all work carried out in accordance with company standards * Ensure all repairs meet safety standards and comply with relevant legislation * Support the team with general maintenance tasks to uphold vehicle reliability and safety *Requirements* * Proven experience as a HGV Technician (Essential) * HGV Licence - advantageous but not essential * Strong problem solving skills and ability to work independently *Skills* * Strong electrical knowledge combined with mechanical expertise in heavy vehicle systems * Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment for repairs and assembly * Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately * Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in maintenance records * Physical capability for heavy lifting and manual handling of large components * Good customer service skills when liaising with clients or internal teams regarding repairs and maintenance tasks This role is ideal for a dedicated technician eager to apply their technical expertise within an environment that values quality workmanship and safety.
