Responsible for maintaining and developing sales within the Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Services Department, with a focus on achieving and exceeding annual revenue targets. The role involves identifying new business opportunities, managing client relationships, and supporting project delivery through technical consultation and site assessments.
Main Duties
- Sales & Strategy
- Plan and prioritise regional sales activities and customer engagement to achieve sales targets.
- Develop and manage a business portfolio in line with the agreed market development strategy.
- Manage product and service mix, pricing, and margins to meet agreed commercial objectives.
- Maintain and develop relationships with both existing and prospective customers to maximise service quality, business growth, and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate records of customer and prospect interactions within internal systems, responding promptly to enquiries and following up on sales opportunities.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity, reporting findings to support the development of a sustainable and profitable business strategy.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure a coordinated approach to increasing sales performance and enhancing customer satisfaction.
- Communicate, liaise, and negotiate with customers during meetings and attend internal company meetings where required.
- Technical & Compliance
- Prepare and raise Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for project works to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Conduct site surveys to assess project requirements and produce Bills of Materials (BOM) and detailed quotations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven sales management experience within the M&E, building services, pump, water treatment, or engineering sector.
- Strong interest and understanding of technical sales and project management within an engineering environment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Working knowledge of pipework systems, pipe sizing, and associated mechanical installations.
- Experience preparing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) with a good understanding of health & safety practices.
- Experience conducting site surveys and preparing Bills of Materials (BOM) and quotations.
- Strong commercial awareness, including pricing strategy, margin control, and contract negotiation.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships with both commercial and residential clients.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively as part of a wider team.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), and basic sales reporting.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel across the South West region to attend customer sites and meetings.
- Full UK driving licence required.
- Relevant industry qualifications or training (e.g., engineering, mechanical, electrical, or sales-related) would be advantageous.
- Job-specific training will be provided where required.

- Familiarity with building services standards and regulations.
- Experience working with contractors, consultants, facilities managers, and property developers.
- Experience working within water management, pump engineering, building services, facilities management, or mechanical & electrical services environments.
