MAWD (March and White Design) is a global interior design firm of forward-thinking experts based in London, New York, and Los Angeles. Our portfolio of award-winning projects with top architects and clients positions us as leaders in the design industry.
Our London studio is seeking an all-rounder talented interior designer with a background in high-end residential developments, hospitality, and/or commercial interiors to join a dynamic team in a fast-growing studio. This individual will be instrumental in ensuring the successful implementation of our projects.
Education and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture / Interior Architecture (Design) or related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 4+ years of post-graduate experience in Interior architecture / Interior Design
Required Skills:
- Works accurately to a written or verbal brief
- Ability to create and develop conceptual and schematic designs, producing sketches to scale and understands space planning.
- Proven ability to create and review technical packages, including technical drawing reviews
- Proven on-site experience including on-site detail reviews and problem solving.
- Understanding of FF&E selection, budgeting, scheduling and procurement..
- Ability to advise clients and other parties on all design, construction, technical and regulation aspects of a design project.
- Excellent knowledge in AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign and Excel.
- Self-motivated but also a good team player who is able to work quickly and efficiently in an organised manner.
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to mentor junior designers.
Responsibilities
- Manages projects efficiently, within schedule and within budget in close co-operation with Design Director.
- Collaborate with the design team to develop and refine interior design concepts, considering client specification, spatial functionality, and sustainability principles.
- Works with team through concept, schematic design and detailed design on 1 or more large projects with the design input of a Design Associate.
- Researches and recommends appropriate materials, finishes and fixtures that align with the project’s design concept, budget and performance.
- Assembles and manages drawing sets for multiple projects of various sizes and complexities for review by Design Director and/or Co-founder.
- Reviews and finalises schedule documents to be issued to AOR and client. Highlights potential issues with little or no requirement for review by Design Assocatae and/or Co-founder.
- Checks MAWD specifications for accuracy and specified materials compliance with building regulations / code.
- Can review comments and take ownership of a DD drawings packages are met across multiple projects, with ability to highlight inaccuracies or conflicts..
- Attends site to review progress and ensure the design intent is met. Creates and reviews defects list, issues require resolution and takes full responsibility.
- Leads construction meetings with Clients present, answers design related questions from construction team. Ensures project is fully coordinated and takes full responsibility.
- Oversees procurement process from design side, and provides input as required to ensure goods are installed on times. Leads FF&E installation.
