We leverage groundbreaking execution and pricing technologies to elevate and improve financial markets' operations.

The individual will also be expected to advocate for operational efficiency and continuous improvement across all deployment aspects, as well as troubleshooting, monitoring, automation, and resiliency.

We are just at the beginning of an exciting transformation project to consolidate and standardise how we run and research our applications inside Maven, and the individual will have the opportunity to shape the future of this platform. The role is based in London, but the team will be globally distributed. Communication skills, a pragmatic approach to problem-solving under time pressure, and a positive mindset are essential for success in this role.   • a highly motivated individual with creative problem-solving skills;
  • a self-starter attitude and proactive problem ownership mindset;
  • Ability to prioritise effectively whilst keeping longer-term objectives in mind;

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to have a meaningful impact within Maven to help define and shape a role that uniquely interfaces with all other functions within the firm.

MUST HAVE:

  • Building systems with a constant focus on reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Designing and programming in a variety of languages and technologies.
  • Working on legacy code as well as green field development.
  • Initiative driving projects to completion.
  • Learning and promoting new technologies with a focus on best practices.
  • Experience building and automating various operations tasks using scripting languages such as Python, including configuration checks, system health monitoring, alerting, reliability report generation, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to steep learning curves and navigate large volumes of information.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Multiple years of server-side development.
  • Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, Linux, Kafka, Prometheus, and other modern deployment tooling.
  • Experience working closely with both traders and automated strategies in a similar front-office environment to identify and implement operational improvements.
  • Knowledge of standard IT and software engineering tooling such as git, jira, TeamCity, confluence, ansible, etc.
  • Familiarity with SQL, HTTP messaging, and network protocols.
  • Experience managing operational risk in a trading environment.

WHY SHOULD YOU APPLY?

  • An excellent engineering environment where technology is key to our success.
  • Flexible work-from-home options 1 day a week.
  • Highly competitive compensation plus annual discretionary bonus.
