Our client is a global offshore law firm, headquartered in Jersey. They are currently seeking an experienced candidate with a minimum of five years’ dispute resolution experience, gained in a common law jurisdiction to join them as a Senior Associate in their Litigation team in Jersey. Prior experience practising in Jersey would be advantageous but is not a requirement. The candidate should be technically strong and demonstrate excellent team working skills.

The successful candidate will report to and be line managed by a Partner. Additionally, they will be allocated an informal mentor (one of our Managing Associates). The team comprises seven Associates. While the Senior Associate will not hold formal management responsibility, they will be expected to delegate work and actively support the development of junior team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide sound, quality technical advice and guidance to clients.
  • Work independently and as part of the wider team and effectively manage files with minimal input from partner or other senior fee earners, taking responsibility for day to day matter management end to end, re-prioritising as required to meet client and partner expectations.
  • Be established and recognised by others in an area of expertise and act as a significant point of contact for clients.
  • Manage own financial responsibilities in accordance with policies and procedures including time recording, billing, WIP and debt.
  • Ensure clients are fully informed as to the fees and disbursements that will be incurred on each matter and provide updates as required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Qualified Lawyer with typically 5+ years of PQE, with an excellent academic background, including 2:1 at degree, plus Commendation/Distinction at LPC (or equivalent).
  • Experience from a relevant law firm environment, ideally within a Magic/Silver Circle firm (or equivalent) demonstrating good, consistent performance over the last two financial years; prior Jersey experience ideal but not essential.
  • Excellent drafting and written communication skills.
  • Develop the highest standards of professional knowledge and ability.
  • Candidates at Associate level, who are ready to step up to a Senior Associate level will also be considered.

This role requires a full relocation to the beautiful island of Jersey.
