What is on offer as a Functional Assessor?

  • Excellent starting salary at Β£39,500pa
  • Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm working hours
  • Full time and part time available (3, 4 or 5 days per week available)
  • Edinburgh based when working on-site
  • 25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays + the ability to buy or sell 5 more days + pension
  • Hybrid/home working available
  • NMC or HCPC fees paid for and CPD revalidation support provided

What does the Functional Assessor role involve?

The Functional Assessor role will involve you carrying out 5 client assessments per day. A typical day will see you carry out telephone, video or face-to-face assessments to understand how a person's disability or health condition affects their working capability. You'll listen to their experiences, ask questions and use your insights to produce a factual report to help the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) determine their eligibility for benefits. That's the good news; the DWP make the final decision, you don't. Your role is to gather information and produce the report.

What we look for:

  • An NMC registered nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD) or HCPC qualified Physiotherapist, Paramedic or Occupational Therapist with 1 year or more broad post-registration experience
  • Someone who's proactive and keen to learn
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Competent IT and computer skills
  • Comfortable working with a diverse range of conditions, including mental health
