We are currently recruiting for an Investment Manager to join our Property Team in Glasgow. This is an office-based, full-time role, 34.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Maven Capital Partners (a subsidiary of Mattioli Woods) is a leading Venture Capital Trust (VCT), Private Equity and Property Fund Manager. The Maven Property Team specialises in providing equity capital for property projects across the UK in a variety of real estate sectors, including Purpose Built Student Accommodation, Build to Rent, hotels, residential, industrial and investment property in addition to also providing secured loan funding.
Maven Property is a leading developer and investor in real estate projects throughout the UK. We have raised more than £400 million of funding to date and have a current portfolio of 28 properties, with a GDV of more than £300 million. Current investments range from Dundee, on the East Coast of Scotland, to Bournemouth, on the south coast of England.
The purpose of the role is to support the property partners and property team in:
- Management of portfolio of real estate and real estate loan investments, leading banking and/or debt finance transactions in connection with the portfolio;
- Sourcing and transacting new real estate investment and lending opportunities and assisting to develop new sources of capital for real estate deals.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead responsibility for a portfolio of existing real estate and/or real estate lending investments.
- Attend regular board and project meetings to monitor progress of the business/investment, and provide reports to the Investment Committee, recommending follow-on funding or other actions where required.
- Work with operators / JV partners / professional teams to develop a productive relationship and assist the business / project where possible.
- Prepare investment committee papers, presentations and investment memoranda.
- Undertake information gathering on behalf of and preparation of presentations to client funds / investors including half yearly investor reports.
- Generally take all actions necessary in order to maximise investment value for investor clients including seeking exit opportunities in line or ahead of business plan for each investment.
- Take a leading role in banking transactions within the wider Maven portfolio, not just on own portfolio and be prime contact for Maven lender relationships.
New Investment Activity:
- Generate new business introductions and investment / lending opportunities to Maven.
- Perform analysis of new business opportunities to take forward or decline.
- Perform initial financial modelling of investment returns for potential investment opportunities.
- Perform market research and analysis, communicating with key parties including external agents and advisors, in relation to potential investment opportunities.
- Prepare investment committee papers, presentations and investment memoranda. Present investment opportunities to the Maven Investment Committee.
- Assist with deal execution activities; including legals, valuation, raising of debt finance and supporting fundraising activities. Drive deal timetable and deliver completed transactions in required timescales.
- Liaise with intermediaries including accountants, lawyers, brokers, architects, project managers, surveyors and CF advisors to generate deal flow and new investors / capital.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Appropriate financial, legal or real estate professional qualification.
- Experience of UK real estate projects is desirable, with strong understanding of project appraisal, financial structuring and risk assessment.
- Background in managing loan books or broader credit portfolios (desirable), including monitoring financial performance, covenant compliance, and impairment considerations.
- Ability to originate and execute transactions end‑to‑end, from initial financial analysis through due diligence, credit approval, documentation, and completion. This includes strong familiarity with financial models, valuation methodologies, and associated legal and finance documentation.
- Banking, credit, or real estate lending experience is desirable. Other relevant backgrounds include Accountancy, Corporate Finance, Real Estate Investment, Surveying, Entrepreneurship, or specialist roles in related industries where strong financial analysis and transactional skills are core.
